Dr Mailapur really is amazing. His fun personality and genuine concern for patient success is so authentic and welcoming. I had gastric sleeve in 11/22 and have lost over 200 lbs with another 45 to go I started at 495. Months before surgery, Dr M made sure I was ready and preparing for surgery the right way. 9 months after, I still feel he genuinely wants me to succeed and stay true to the path he has helped me on. He has been encouraging and supportive at every turn. His office staff has been great as well. If you follow the plan, you will be successful!
I have thought about having weight loss surgery for a very long time but did not feel comfortable with who/what was available. I was referred to Dr. Mailapur and immediately knew that I was in the right place. He is definitely someone that you can tell is in the business of helping people to change their lives the right way. He was very matter of fact with me about the type of operation and the things that I needed to accomplish before he would be willing to complete my procedure while also not making me feel like less of a person or being critical. I held up my end of the deal, and he held up his. The process was very simple and informative to get me to the point of surgery. The surgery was very smooth and successful. Dr. Mailapur and his staff have made the process fail proof if you follow what he has laid out for you. I am grateful that he was able to help me in this process and am extremely impressed and pleased with the services that I received from Dr. Mailapur. If you are on the fence about having surgery, or have seen some other doctors and just aren't sure about them - wait and go see Dr. Mailapur. He makes you feel like an actual person and not someone with a problem or look at you in a belittling fashion as I have experienced with some doctors. If you choose to have Dr. Mailapur assist you in your journey to a healthier you, trust me when I say you will not be disappointed!
I highly recommend Dr. Mailapur for anyone asking about bariatric surgery. I began seeing him in December 2022 and had my gastric sleeve surgery June 5, 2023. He and his staff have answered any and all of my questions. They made getting insurance approval super easy. I felt very informed going into surgery. I lost 48 lbs before surgery and have since lost another 48 lbs since surgery. It’s been 3 months since surgery and I’m just 4 lbs shy of 100 lbs down total. I do still have about 55 lbs to go before reaching my goal but I have no doubt I will. Dr. Mailapur really cares about his patients and wants them to succeed in their weight loss. I am so thankful my doctor referred me to him when I began checking into gastric sleeve surgery. I have no regrets about having had this surgery. It has provided me with the tools I needed to lose weight and get healthy. Thank you Dr. Mailapur for taking such great care of me and helping me reach my goals!
OMG!!! Dr. Mailapur is THE BEST bariatric surgeon in Huntsville! He is so attentive, kind, understanding, knowledgeable and the best at what he does here! His practice employees are all so kind, knowledgeable and thorough, as well! My VSG sleeve surgery date was October 12, 2022 and it was THE BEST decision I ever made! My ONLY regret is not doing it SOONER! Dr. Mailapur continues to be a great cheerleader and motivator for me on my journey to my best self and I could not have chosen a better surgeon! I am 17lbs away from my goal weight, and steadily losing!
Dr.Maliphur did an amazing job on my surgery for malignant melanoma! Amazing care from him and his team. He really made me feel like everything was gonna be okay and talked me through everything in amazing detail I could understand. He also is really good at communicating with your other team of doctors so everyone is in the loop which was amazing and something I hadn’t experienced. I highly recommend him for any surgical needs you may have!

I am very pleased with the service provided by Mr. Mailapur and his office. They have used their experience to outline the entire process to help you succeed. Surgery was a breeze. I am 3 months post op and have lost 62 pounds. They provide you with the tool and all the information but you have to do the work in order to be successful. Get your protein in, drink your water and take your vitamins! I highly recommend Dr. Mailapur!

Dr Mailapur and his staff thoroughly explained my weight loss options, and encouraged me to make a good decision to improve my health. 90 days after my surgery my A1C dropped from 6.2 to 5.3. More important, I've lost 65 pounds, with only daily walking and food intake control. 40% of my body mass has gone, and I'm on track to a healthy weight for years to come.
