Description

Maevery is what happened when we set out to open the kind of place we would want to hang out at close to home. Every guest should feel like the guest of honor at our intimate dinner party.

Our menu is ever-evolving, simple and straightforward. We make everything in house, from the sausage to the ketchup.

Our cocktails are thoughtfully crafted, smart riffs on classics. The wine list features mostly American standouts available by the bottle and by the glass. Four wines are available on tap. Craft beers and domestic favorites are included on the beer list.

Here for a Navy graduation & made an impromptu stop after receiving a recommendation from a previous employee. So glad we came by Laura M. and her colleagues were so warm her menu recommendations were spot on delicious. Also received info about the block parties and other events around town. Will definitely return!Food: 5/5
Delicious food, Wonderful service and tasty drinks. I'm a fan and I'll be sure to return!Food: 5/5
We picked Maevery last minute for our son's navy graduation dinner and it didn't dissapoint. They accommodated a last minute reservation and put us in a corner great table for easy catching up. Service was great which we didn't experience in multiple fine dining restaurants downtown and food was yummy and a good selection. .. they had awesome recommendations and treated us wonderfully! Didn't rush us and from 5-6pm we nearly had the place to ourselves before the dinner rush! Highly recommended by this out of town visiting family! Thank You from Southern CA We will be back if we are in Chicago again!
The food was amazing and on point The atmosphere is OK not really good acoustics but there is a cute little lounge area outdoor seating and cute general dining area. The service could be better. They brought the wrong substitute that I requested. The service was slow then me and my friend was sitting to wait to pay Hard to enjoy food, it was a stubborn fly that kept buzzing around. Tons of flies, which made it very difficult to enjoy the food I had to continually swat, flies away I partially recommend this location based on the service however, I enjoy the experience, and I would NOT go back
Very trendy atmosphere and good food! Quite an intriguing take on the deviled eggs as well.Food: 5/5
My fiance's family and I went to meet her sisters boyfriends family here and we had a decent sized area set up side for us. Upon walking in the area isn't too bad, however I noticed it is quite crowded. Conversations are right next to you and there isn't much personal space. We started off with artichoke dip which was really good, however the pita chips were like stale pita bread that had been left out for a week. We then moved to getting a burger which I got medium rare. It was too rare and ended up falling apart and ripping, there was also no sear at all with minimum flavor. Her sister got chicken and waffles with a side of bacon and it came out very dry and overcooked on some parts as if it had been in a warmer. Their house made ketchup is mid at best and overall the experience in terms of food was not something worth writing home to. Lastly, the service. The lady we had was showing visible signs of holding back from the annoyance of the requests I had given. My fiance is pregnant and requires certain things and also to have things not be around her. Overall this was an unenjoyable experience, for literally the entire group. Most people didn't even touch their food after a bite. We will not be back. That being said, the orange juice isn't bad.
Best food I’ve had in this area, but definitely hit or miss on some items. The gnocchi is the reason for the 4 stars. Add the sausage and it’s wonderful! Tried it with chicken too, but the chicken didn’t have any seasoning. The saffron shrimp is very bland with no flavor. The Brussels sprouts were good enough for me to order twice, but the second time it didn’t live up to my standards. Tuna tartare is awful- wouldn’t recommend.
The best pub food we have ever enjoyed and in a clean, comfortable and well lighted, woody, modern setting. Their pork shank was beautifully plated, swimming in cheesy grits and tender to the point of not requiring a knife, perfectly spiced and prepared. We split a large side order of mashed potatoes as appetizer which was cheesy, creamy excellence. Their eight ounce filet was likewise perfectly prepared and delightful. A pleasing wine list includes The Federalist red on tap and splits of a wondrous French sparkler! Our waitresses always have been superb during many previous outdoor visits and yesterday for our first indoor experience. By far our favorite restaurant. We gladly drive for about an hour specifically to visit Maevery.
To be perfectly honest, the food here confused me. Almost everything was good, but nothing was incredible except for the gnocchi. It was comfort food, but everything was spicy for some reason. The shrimp said it would have sriracha honey on it, and but I couldn’t really get the flavors coming through on that. Then when my fried chicken and sweet potato waffles came, the chicken was loaded with sriracha honey. The chicken was delicious, however, it was a chicken and waffles Sunday Special. The sweet potato waffles were definitely not sweet potato waffles, but maybe just a plain waffle? The atmosphere was homey, but then it also had a metal pig’s head on the wall, and then there was a fancy wall of white wine. I just wasn’t quite sure what the atmospheric direction was, and didn’t exactly know what to make of my surroundings. The place was supposed to feel like home to everybody, but it didn’t 100% work on the atmosphere. However, it did work very well with the food. Grilled cheese, chicken and waffles, ribs, brisket, gnocchi… they hit the nail right on the head for finding that one comfort food for everyone. The gnocchi was stellar, very soft and doughy. It wasn’t too chewy and the sauce was quite exceptional. I would definitely recommend that if you are confused on what to get here as there is a lot to try. I’m not really trying to insult this food in any way, but nothing was too special and while it was good, everything was spicy. The brisket, the chicken, the ribs… wasn’t bad, just very strong and spicy. The ribs were nicely grilled, on a plus side. Definitely something to try out if you’re feeling adventurous for spicy food.
Great food and awesome staff! Unfortunately I did forget my server's name, but she was spectacular! Very helpful with my dates allergies and she made us feel comfortable. Salmon tastes so delicious!
