We absolutely love the magic lamp restaurant. Great food, great menu, great prices. It is so beautiful and nostalgic. A part of socal history. have been coming here for over 50 years. I hope they never change a thingFood: 5/5
Great place with TONS of tradition. Local jazz music on Saturday nite for us. Big indoor fireplace surrounded by circular booth plus normal seating. Only thing is you only have 4 meal options that are $45-60 per plate. Beautiful building style and very clean decor
Sadly, the Magic Lamp Inn has closed their doors for good. What a historical place it is too...
I remembered driving past here years ago, before the 210 was extended and it has stuck in my craw to want to come back and eat here ever since. We stopped in for lunch and were greeted right away by the super friendly hostess/waitress/bartender. We originally just stopped to look around and take some pictures, but between the super friendly greeting we received upon walking in, and my kids being in awe of the decor, as was I, we decided to stay and grab a bite. Everyone was super happy with what they ordered. I got the Monte Cristo, and it was AMAZING! The best one I've had in years. Good enough that I would even consider driving all the way up from Long Beach just to have another! Though we had a pleasant lunch experience, I really want to come back for dinner next time. I must sit in that room with the big round fireplace and I have to see that magical sign out front in it's full glory it was off today. This place is a treasure and worth the drive from wherever you might live!
Had made reservations far in advance of an Anniversary. Was looking forward to two specific menu items, Chateaubriand and table side Cherries Jubilee. Called maybe 9x during the week prior to the time and date for reservations. Went to recording. Used website and made online reservations. Got autobot acknowledgement. Tried following up with more phone calls. Just recording. So we took a chance and drove out only to find yellow tape across entry and notice of change of notice ownership liquor license notice posted. So....parties are not paying attention or just don't care. Fortunately our Plan B two blocks away was awesome and saved the day.
Visited the Magic Lamp Inn for a celebration dinner; everyone was wonderful and answered every question we had. Dinner was amazing, and the atmosphere was even more amazing!
Beautiful classic steakhouse! Food was really well prepared and the ambiance was unforgettable. The lamb chops and prime rib were cooked to perfection - as were the sides. The decor and ambiance remind you of an old school hollywood movie. The space is quite big and we've been here for a wedding party in their banquet area downstairs and a couple years back for a corporate event in another banquet. My experience here has been consistently good. HIGHLY recommend!
Weds night is definitely a night to go. Wasn't busy and we had great service from our waiter and the bartender. We will definitely be back.
Wow! This place is amazing! And, the food was delicious! If you are looking for a hidden gem, you found it! It's timeless, classic and the staff is incredible, especially Scott. He was great! He really added a 5-star quality to our experience. If you're looking for a red-carpet experience, ask for Scott. You'll feel like you've hit the jackpot!
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food for the most part.. my sisters chicken was pretty dry and not enough sauce and waiter was very blah and didn't check in on us often enough but every one else's meals were pretty good. Drink were reasonably priced as well.
