Chen Dance Center announces the Magic Lantern Film Slam, open to all filmmakers. Everyone is welcomed to participate. Please follow our guidelines below.
Film Slam Guidelines:
1. Films must be under 15 minutes (including credits)
2. Films must adhere to MPAA guidelines and have a rating of PG-13 or lower
3. Films must have one scene take place in Chinatown (if you’re not in NYC then a Chinatown in your neighborhood)
AND Choose (at least) one from below:
4. At least one character wearing all red
5. At least one dance sequence in it
6. A red lantern prop
If the topics listed are not met, they will be ineligible to win prizes but can be screened
First Prize: Dinner for Two
Second Prize: Two tickets to a show at the Chen Dance Center
Third Prize: Chen Dance Center Tote Bag
Special Acknowledgment: Chen Dance Center T-Shirt
Format:
Data DVD containing a quicktime movie Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) 1440 x 1080 23.97 fps 48 khz stereo audio
Please note:
- MLFS will not own any of the submitted films but reserves the right to use stills and segments from submitted films for advertising.
- The artist must obtain legal rights for any music used in their films.
Films must be submitted by May 9th, 2012.

If there are any technical problems you will be contacted by May 14th, 2012 and you’ll have until the May 18th, 2012 to resubmit. Re-submitted films with technical problems will not be screened.
