From some of the latest reviews, it appears that it is not open for tours. We were in the area for some other sight seeing and I saw a sign for Magnolia Manor historic home tours and called the number. I got a message that the voicemail has not been set up; however, no other information. We were close enough to drive into Cairo just to check it out. I walked up the front steps only to find a sign tucked in a corner on the porch that they are temporarily closed. Don’t know why that can’t be put on the sign in front of the house where the days and hours of operation are?? Regardless, the outside of the house is spectacular. Obviously the grounds and landscaping are being taken care of. The house looks to be in good shape as well and I would have loved to have been able to see the inside and furnishings. It would also be nice if they would set up a recording on the business phone number that they are temporarily closed. Would I drive to Cairo just to see the outside of the house and the grounds if I wasn’t already close…probably not.
I called to ask about tours, but got a message that the mail box had not been set up. But nothing on the website said that they were closed, so I drove about 30 miles down there. Well, it had a sign that they are temporarily closed. From the description it looks like it would be a great mansion to tour, but I will never go back!Visited onWeekdayReservation recommendedYes
Great historic tour. I sincerely hope they don't have to close. The craftsmanship and antiques are beautiful. Truly hope this town has a rebirth.
First, I must say that I didn't visit the inside of the Manor. We were driving through town when we saw the sign for the historic district. And then we saw it and took quite a few pictures. It was a very pleasant surprise to see this mansion and the Riverlore across the street. It's too bad that so many of the beautiful buildings in town were not saved.
I loved this house and the rich history. Its a sad fact that they may not be able to save this place due to lack of funds. This whole area is financially stricken.
10/06/2022 Thursday AM... Family is in town, so I tried to call and ask about a 10/10/2022 tour. No one answers- no voicemail. Web site indicated it is "open" I dont believe that is accurate. Sadly, it seems historical museums are becoming "history."
Very much love the huge magnolia tree, the house is very beautiful it was closed there is a bee hive on the house.
Only 3 star's because it's closed to visitors. It's a nice place just wish it was open.Visited onWeekday
Looks like a beautiful house! Sadly closed for tours, but nothing was posted online. I would recommend calling before trying to tour. 2/19/22
