Paducah's Home for Fine Film
The Paducah Art House Alliance (formerly Paducah Film Society), a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization, was founded in 1991 by a group of arts-minded individuals who saw a need for an outlet for foreign, independent and documentary film. For the first five years of operation, PFS screened one film per month, Sundays at the Cinema. As interest increased within the community, programming expanded to multiple screenings. While the space we rented from Paducah's Market House Theatre was adequate, we were limited as to how often we could present our films due to the demand of the Market House's live production programming. We needed a new home, and Maiden Alley Cinema was born.
Since then, Paducah Art House Alliance (Maiden Alley Cinema & Columbia Theatre Restoration) has become one of the area's leading arts organizations, bringing the art of the film to a much wider audience. Our regular weekly films, special film events, children's programs and vintage film series provide an ever-changing and exciting embellishment to the growing cultural community of Paducah, Kentucky.
Beginning in 2014, effort began to restore the historic Columbia Theatre (built 1927) to a 3 screen art house cinema allowing the expansion of Maiden Alley Cinema programming.
