the fire dept responded to a call at one of my apartments where a tenant burnt hot dogs on the stove. The tenant opened the windows and went away while the smoke cleared from the apartment. Maitland fire department MFD came just after the tenant left, they were told that we had a key to get into the apt.after a couple minutes the fire department destroyed the door and door frame by forcing entry, After they were all ready inside the apt, another crew force the 2nd door open and destroyed the 2nd entry door and frame. Windows were left open before the MFD arrived, no heat, no fire, just residual smoke in the apartment, instead of giving us time to unlock the door, or entering through an open window they tear up 2 doors on the excuse of life safty and preservation of property. Next door to this apt was another apt that was occupied. The tenant answer the knock by the MFD and was told to get out do to a fire. The MFD had a second crew forced their way into her apt through the front door after she got out. why the fire fighters didn't coordinated their effort to preserve property damage goes unanswered. Three doors destroyed, no heat, no fire. I arrived at the scene and found three broken doors and frames $3000 in damage and ask why they didn't use a key or one of the open windows to enter the apt, and i was told that it was a life safety issue and that they use national procedures to enter. They told me that they are sorry about the damage they did but they not responsible To make me feel at ease with their vandalism and lack of concern for my loss, they told me insurance will cover the damage. I guess they didn't think about deductibles or of the fact that none of this would have happened if they thought before they tore into my building. This mentality is what is causing insurance company s to raise their rates.
