Mama's Soul Food Kitchen

they used to be my favorite place until they served me and my boyfriend rotten food twice, then the third time he got food poisoning. One day they served us rotten chicken that smelled so bad as soon as i bit into it i was gagging in the trash. it stunk up my whole kitchen and living room so i had to take it out to a dumpster. when we complained they gave us a free meal which also had rotten chicken. we stopped ordering from this place for a while until one day we decided to give it another try. the other day we got a gyro and fish from them and my boyfriend ended up getting horrible food poisoning and missing work. there is one waitress who is a sweet heart and has amazing customer service. i wish i could give her 5 stars. but there is another girl who acts completely ghetto and rude and talks about sex and smoking weed to customers.

Very nice setup, the service was some of the best I have ever seen, I didn't have to check my meal because the server showed me everything before bagging it at the counter and we ordered before they closed and they still made everything so fresh that our meal was hot when we got home. We ordered fried chicken, fried catfish, yams, greens, French fries, fried okra, chicken tenders and corn bread. All of which were very good especially since it is difficult finding these things in Kenosha. Mama's is on point!

The staff was very pleasant however, we ate in and when we got our check we were charged for fountain drinks. Which would’ve been fine had we been given a choice of fountain drink or can keep in mind the can drink came with our meals. When asked about the extra 4 dollar charge for both drinks her reply was well you guys ordered fountain drinks. Which was a lie because all she did was give us a list of which drinks they offered not one time did she tell us which ones actually came with the meal so of course we assumed the drinks she brought out were a part of it! Other than that the food was good and service was nice. I will eat here again!

This place was fantastic! Never mind the haters saying the greens were sour - they were delicious. Mac and Cheese was amazing! Fried Corn was out of control delicious! Fried Chicken was top end and so were the smothered pork chops and rice. I’d have taken a picture of the food but I ate it much too quickly to get a picture.

The food I got was bland and soggy. The only good part of my meal was the sweet potatoes. I was very disappointed in my meal. The green beans and potatoes had a bad taste,the mac n cheese was dry and kind of burnt, the smothered chicken and gravy was soggy and bland. This place is charging 11.99 for a dinner and you're only getting a scoop of each side. 4 wings in bland gravy is not worth it.

Me and my group personally thought the food tasted phenomenal. I can understand where some of these reviews come from with the time span. The service is a little slow/inexperienced seeming and the food takes a bit. But they seem understaffed so i feel theyre working with who they have for being a small/new business in Kenosha. And personally im ok waiting a little longer for food like we had there. It tasted fresh, tasty, and hot. All in all Im a happy camper and will be back for sure! My fav part was the gravy and the yams. Great flavor!

Been here for over a hour waiting on our food and the soda is warm. We had to ask for refill of drinks so I would say service is poor. I sure hope the food is worth it. Never did get to try the food we left after they served a family of 4 that came in 45 minutes after we placed our order. We we're not the only unhappy customers there were several.

I tried this place twice. I will admit...I was looking forward to trying this place out. First, they give a menu with all the items on it, but only have certain items daily. I was ok with that. Placed my order and liked the fact that it is made to order. A little wait time..but it is going to be fresh cooked. The first time I ordered..catfish dinner, perch dinner and rib tips dinner. Portion sizes do not match the price. The greens were sweet..maybe just me..but I have never had sweet greens...the Mac & cheese was alright and the hot water cornbread is regular cornbread made on a griddle like pancakes..I may be wrong..but that is not what I was taught as hot water cornbread to be. The girl at the front told me it was hotwater cornbread The catfish and perch was good..but all you need is a good fish fry..the rib tips..a definite let down. There were about 7 to 10 rip tips that tasted like they were boiled to death and then some nasty bbq sauce poured on top and put in the oven. So, I try them again...ordered the mixed chicken dinner with Mac & cheese and green beans. They found the smallest pieces of chicken..2 wings, a leg and thigh. The green beans were black and the Mac & cheese was not alright this time..horrible..May I suggest to change the grease more often..the chicken was burnt and tasted the same..it was fried so long..the meat was dried out and the only flavor was old grease and burnt. I tried to give this place a chance twice. Unfortunately, they will not get anymore business from me.

Great food! Great service! I drive up from illinois for mama's food.

By giving this one star I am being very generous. This was simply the worst meal I have eaten in all of Kenosha. Greens should not be sour, plain and simple! I am very disappointed and feel disrespected that a business would send food out to their customer of such a poor quality. Mama's soul food will not be getting return business from this customer!
