Maple Park is a village in DeKalb and Kane counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population was 1,310 at the 2010 census, up from 765 in 2000. Maple Park was formerly known as Lodi.HistoryMaple Park was originally called Lodi, after Lodi, Lombardy. The present name comes from a nearby grove of sugar maple trees. A post office called Lodi was established first in 1837, and the post office was renamed Maple Park in 1880.GeographyMaple Park is located at, primarily within Kane County.According to the 2010 census, Maple Park has a total area of 2.353sqmi, of which 2.35sqmi is land and 0.003sqmi is water.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 765 people, 280 households, and 208 families residing in the village. The racial makeup of the village was 97.52% White, 0.39% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.92% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.48% of the population.There were 280 households out of which 39.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% were married couples living together, 11.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.7% were non-families. 21.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.73 and the average family size was 3.23.
