MASSAGE SERVICES:

SWEDISH MASSAGE - $65
One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with only the area bing worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE - $80
A combination of swedish and deep tissue incorporating stretches, while focusing on specific areas tailored to the clients needs.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE - $95
Techniques that utilize deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These techniques require advanced training and a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep-tissue massage, otherwise tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques.

YOGASSAGE - $120 (90 min)
This is a massage modality that enhances the free and natural movements of the body through gentle, sustained stretching and applied pressure. Gentle vibration and energy work with the chakras is integrated into a gracefully flowing sequence. Unique positioning is incorporated to facilitate myofascial stretching without strain. Yogassage has been compared to Thai massage on a table, as it blends elements from both the Eastern and Western cultures of bodywork.

SPORTS MASSAGE - call for prices
Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. There are three contexts in which sports massage can be useful to an athlete: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment. Pre-event massage is delivered at the performance site, usually with the athlete fully clothed. Fast-paced and stimulating, it helps to establish blood flow and to warm up muscles. During the massage, the athlete generally focuses on visualizing the upcoming event. Post-event massage is also delivered on site, through the clothes. The intent here is to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow. When an athlete sustains an injury, skillful massage therapy can often speed and improve the quality of healing.

I would have to say that this was the worst massage that I can remember. I used a LivingSocial which helps minimize the pain. There were a few issues. I did not get a massage from Mira, it was one of her male employees. When I arrived he greeted me at the entrance and began a friendly conversation which went on and on and on for 10 minutes!!!! I cut him off by saying that I had to go to the bathroom, but I wanted to before my service anyway. When I used the bathroom I washed my hands and there was no paper to dry them with so I had to use Kleenex. Which makes you wonder how the employees are cleansing their hands before your service. We finally got into the room and he asked the basic question about any spots that needed extra attention. It was a basic room with 2 wall sconces, a small table in the corner with a clock and Ipod dock and the massage table. He started the massage by telling me that he was unable to turn the lights down! There was no dimmer switch on the lights. Yes, very relaxing to have a massage in a brightly lit room. The room is also right next to the class space and the walls are not insulated/sound proof. I could hear conversations outside. I expect that if there is a class taking place that you will definately hear it so ask before you make your selected appointment time. The massage was basically long stroking motions with his full hand. No deep tissue, no circular with fingers, no arm, no elbow. Just long stroking motions. He didn't massage my palms, feet and now that I think of it didn't really do my neck! In addition to the bright lights there was also the music and the CLOCK. Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick FOR THE ENTIRE HOUR! Who puts a ticking clock in a massage room! Then the flute and guitar South American/Central American music. Every song sounded the same. No piano, no violin, no sounds of waves or birds or wind. Just guitar and flute. In fact, at the end I looked at the Ipod and the CD was called Flute and Guitar! LOL! Now I have a bright room, a ticking clock, repetitive music and oh yeah, the massage person's loud rumbling stomach!!!! IN MY EAR! Finally after 60 minutes it was over. He asked if I wanted some water. Every massage I get the not only bring you water but tell you to drink more during the day to flush your system. I of course said yes and he left and I hear a faucet running. He brought me tap water in a tiny paper cup! He then stood there for another 5 minutes to tell me about how horrible his wife and mother in laws cooking was! I am a nice person so I just smiled through it but I just wanted to get dressed and leave. After I exited the room and begin to walk to the exit he thanked me and started ANOTHER conversation. I was saved by another customer who was arriving for her service. I wanted to warn her to run, run while you still have your chance! He gave me a coupon for 50% off another massage which I will not use and won't give to anyone that I care about. Tips: Ask for Mira to do your service, ask if they've put a dimmer on the switch, if that clock is in the room ask for it to be removed, be specific in the kind of massage your are expecting, make sure there's no classes in session during your massage time, bring paper towels to dry your hands, bring a bottle of water, if you start a conversation with the guy with the tatoos and ponytail have some extra time available! With that you'll have a great experience.
