Do not send your loved ones here. I really wish I could give zero stars. My grandmother is a permanent resident at the facility and is constantly left in the wheelchair for hours in a soiled diaper. The food is so inedible that she barely eats anymore. She had so much trouble getting water that she had to get a mini fridge put in the room with bottles of water, but that water supply depends on the kitchen supplying it and some weeks the water doesn't come in for her. She hadn't been able to shower for three weeks and it was only after my mother and I called to complain that she was given a shower, otherwise it was just sponge baths. This is inhumane! I'm disgusted and so angry at myself for recommending this place and arranging her placement. I regret it every day I talk to her.
I usually don’t do this, but I think this is the right thing to do. I applied to a job at apple rehab in West Haven, I read their reviews in google, which weren’t the best, but I still gave them the benefit of the doubt, I think everyone deserves a chance. They contacted me for an interview, first of all, the way they contacted me wasn’t the most professional, they sent me a random text through my phone that didn’t look right, and I should’ve pay attention to the red flags since the beginning, but I didn’t, like I said, just giving them the benefit of the doubt. The day of the interview I got there with plenty of time, and the administrator which was the person that was going to do the interview, she handed me some forms to fill out, and she said she will be back. I filled everything out, and then I gave them back to the receptionist. I waited and after a while the receptionist came to me and told me that the administrator would have to give me a call… which I was surprised, and I asked her again just to double checked and she said “she said she will give you a call, she’s on a meeting and she can’t leave.” I’m a very calm person always and I usually don’t make a big deal about things, and I gave them once again the benefit of the doubt. I left and I texted the number they were contacting me for the interview and I asked for an explanation, which of course they didn’t answer. So I decided to call asking if I could talk with the administrator, and the lady in the reception asked me the reason, so I explained to her what happened and I told her I was just confused and that I just wanted an explanation about what happened. She started to be very rude and snotty, and she told me that I wasn’t the only person that was going through that which I think is even worse, and made me think “so they’re doing this to everyone that is going there for interviews?” She also told me in a very rude manner that that was a nursing home and that that kind of things happened there so I would just have to wait for the administrator to call me back; she also said that they were very busy that day and that’s why they sent me back home. Which I don’t agree because when I was sitting there waiting for my interview, they were celebrating someone’s birthday and even eating cake, so no, that doesn’t look busy to me at all. I told this to the lady in the reception and she still was with a snotty attitude but she didn’t really know what to say because she knew I was right. I also told her it was very unprofessional from them to schedule an interview and then send the person home. That’s inhuman, because they’re not thinking in what people has to do to go to the interviews. Obviously we need jobs and that’s why we are going. Everyone deserves respect and still to this moment nobody reached out to me either with an explanation or an apology. No wonder why they need people in Human Resources…
I want to say that the social worker Cindy is phenomenal at doing her job she really listens and takes how the patient feels seriously she is considerate and understanding and goes above and beyond to make sure her patient feels heard and taken care of
If I could post a half star review I would. My father has been there for 2 1/2 weeks and does not have a working phone. Three work orders have been put in and his phone has still not been fixed. My name and phone number is sitting by their phone. Yesterday they called my aunt 87 years old to just to discuss a discharge plan on my father a family meeting my aunt called me. I am my father‘s health care proxy power of attorney why were they call my aunt instead of me I’ll tell you they don’t have my number on his file which is funny because the hospital sent over my name and phone number they claim they never received it so how did you get my aunt’s number because when I called you said the only number you had was my fathers did you just violate the HIPAA law I wonder. Let’s see if they call me tomorrow I doubt it but it doesn’t matter because I would never everSuggest anybody to go to Apple rehab because of the amount of problems I’ve been having with them lately .
There should be no stars. My partner sent home yesterday and back at yNH today. Most indifferent care I’ve ever seen. Almost impossible to find anyone to listen. DO NOT SEND ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS HELL
My mother in law was here for short term rehab. She did receive excellent care from the nursing staff. My biggest complaint with this facility was the lack of communication and the rudeness of the receptionist. Several times my husband would ask questions to the receptionist and she was very rude to him. I have worked in this field as a receptionist at many places and was appalled by the responses he received from her. I worked here myself part time as a receptionist and she was rude even back then. The second lack of communication was from administrative staff. My mother in law fell and no one called us to notify us of this. They just noted in her chart that she had a skin tear. In my past experience I always saw that the nursing staff called the family member to let them know of this. There was also an issue with her phone and also no one was keeping us in the loop as to how her care was progressing. No one contacted us until my husband emailed someone for some information and logged a complaint in his email. When it came to discharge, the case worker in the facility did not assist with anything but give us the name of a home care agency that would be providing her care. My mother in law is on oxygen and we were told that the company would be following us back to the house to set up the machinery...this did not happen. I felt they could not get us out of the facility fast enough...and when my husband tried to go in to ask a question, they would not allow him back into the facility. My mother in law recently fell at home and has a fractured hip. She had surgery and is currently at another rehab where they are actually doing what they should be by assisting with getting us appropriate home care and services needed at the home.
The worst place on the planet. Dont send your loved ones in this establishment. Rooms are filthy hallway stinks. Just a nasty place.
Great Facility. Very clean and the staff and administration is very friendly and respectful.
After visiting many Nursing Homes in the Connecticut area, I was impressed with this facility. The building is clean and well kept. The individual rooms are cheery and pleasantly painted and decorated. In a challenging and demanding field, the staff works well together to address and resolve resident and family concerns.
This facility is disgraceful. The Administrative Staff only cares about client’s bill being paid. Leaving client in limbo while trying to get Medicaid. Throwing them in a closet size room to share with another resident. Leaving the elderly in the hallway like their nothing. Leaving them in bed when their supposed to be out of bed. The entire floor and rooms smelling like urine. Throwing my Uncle’s clothes in a plastic bag, not clean and smelling like urine. A rude elderly Receptionist who I can’t stand dealing with. I am having this facility investigated and my Uncle will be out of there immediately. Don’t ever have any loved one in their care. It’s a disgusting and neglectful dump
