Nice park. Didn't have to pay to enter, but would have to pay to enter lighthouse. Was fairly busy. Smallish Park compared to some others. A nice feel to it. Kept up pretty well. Pokemon stops are there was well. Decent public restrooms. A couple other outback to visit while there.
Marblehead Lighthouse is located within Marblehead Lighthouse State Park along with the US Coast Guard historic keeper's house and lifesaving station and museum. The Marblehead Lighthouse is one of Lake Erie's best known and most-photographed landmarks. It is the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes. Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse during the summer season for spectacular views of the lake and its islands in the distance. We really enjoyed this clean, well maintained and safe park. The area also offers picnic areas and restrooms.
The Marblehead Lighthouse is one of my favorite local places to visit. I enjoy going here multiple times a year and it never gets old. It is pretty no matter when you go. I love taking a chair to sit out on the rocks and enjoy the sounds of the water. Last year my husband and I visited in the evening. I am always there before noon so it was a nice change to visit later in the day. There were several people there fishing that evening never see anyone fishing in the morning and we saw several catching fish. One big change I was very happy with was a couple years ago or so when they built a nice restroom facility. Huge improvement over the pit toilets that used to be there. The new restroom is always clean. I have actually only been to the lighthouse once when the gift shop was open and you could go up in the lighthouse. I did go in the gift shop but it is very small and it was very crowded so I only stayed a couple minutes. I did not go up in the lighthouse that day. Maybe the next time it is open I will go. Restrooms: Very nice clean facility
This is simply a beautiful area! The lighthouse is beautiful, the grounds are well maintained. The shore surrounding the lighthouse is peaceful. You can sit on rocks and watch the water. Hopefully one day i can return and see it at night and your the lighthouse. But it's just perfect! Restrooms: Very nice and clean area Picnic area: Small picnic area
Nice park with amazing views of Lake Eerie. The park has great information about the history of the building on the property as well as the lighthouse. Facilities like bathrooms are available which is a big plus. Their is a museum and gift shop open daily.
Great place to tour and learn a lot of our coastal history. Includes lighthouse, life saving station, gift shop, carriage house. Has newer bathrooms. 77 winding steps to the top of the lighthouse approx $3 per person to do that. Great view of the islands. Ask about the limestone quarry bridge!
Absolutely gorgeous! A must see. Beautiful setting and great historical value. Highly recommend adding it to your trip if you are in the sandusky area. Picnic area: Picnic tables available so you can bring a lunch or picnic with you to enjoy your time and view.
We recently visited and tour the Marblehead Lighthouse on a whirlwind Ohio trip to show my daughters where I grew up. When i was a kid in the 1990's, this lighthouse was only open 4 Saturdays per year and the line was always really long. It was so great to visit this fully-restored lighthouse and meet its all-volunteer historical society that operates the tours, gift shop, and exhibits. You could just feel and see the pride they have for their lighthouse and it was so much fun sharing this magical place with my daughters!
Nice lighthouse, museum, and gift shop. It was closed when we got to the area. It looks to be a well kept area. We enjoyed standing on the rocks on the shore. Some people brought chairs and they had the right idea. We liked the rocks versus sand on the beach. I plan on coming back during operating hours.
You must visit this FREE summer locale when on vacation! Large grounds with gorgeous lake views of the Bass Islands and Cedar Point. Lots of shade and benches for picnics. Modern, CLEAN restrooms. If you love history, this place is for you! The smaller buildings separate from the lighthouse house exceptional museum exhibits regarding the lake's history. Friendly staff has a lot of knowledge and love to share. The lighthouse is fully accessible for $3. Restrooms: Huge, air conditioned, and clean! Benches inside are perfect for older folks to rest and cool off. Picnic area: Beautiful open lawns, shaded glades near the water, and limestone pads along the coastline offer scenic views and a quiet places to relax
