The Curioporium was a super fun and unique shopping experience! Being a lover of Halloween, I was very delighted to have happened upon this while in town. There were several rooms of awesome and creepy decor with items for sale throughout. There was even a tarot card reader there! Definitely make it a point to stop in here. According to our host, who was dressed and in character, the building is actually haunted, adding to the already fantastic atmosphere. There was so much to see. Everywhere you looked, there were tons of details and creative scenes, with each room having a different theme. It’s one of those things that you have to see for yourself!
Had the absolute time of my afterlife exploring Curioporium! We learned about this shop online and, as a horror fanatic, I knew I had to check it out. We planned a whole day to drive 2 hours each way to see it. Once there, we spent almost 2 hours exploring the shop and marveling over the attention to detail. The scenery, lighting, and sound effects blew me away. I really love the concept of everything that you can see being for sale, BUT that leads me to my one gripe: The pricing seems very inconsistent and unreliable. I had my eye on a specific piece, and asked the employee how much it was as many displays do not have price tags. She mentioned that she had to send a picture to the owner and they would respond with the price. When she returned with the price, it was a little out of my range, so I decided to purchase something less expensive. When I got home, I was checking out their online shop and noticed the exact piece I was originally interested in purchasing listed for over $100 cheaper than what the owner wanted me to purchase it for in store. Which makes me glad I didn’t end up buying it, but leads me to wonder if I paid too much for the things that I did end up buying. Overall, it was a great experience and I look forward to going back if I’m ever in the area again, but I’m hoping there is more honesty in regards to the pricing moving forward.
A delightfully dark fun corner of Connecticut! Very non Connecticut indeed. Every inch is packed with cool products and creatively weird installation s. Everything but the staff is for sale make an offer. It's a haunted shopping experience you have to go . I purchased my Alister Crowley Thoth deck here so it's tied to a joyous time .
I The Curioporium! Every time you step into the shop you are transported into a magical realm. Lights, fog and sounds bring you immediately into an immersive experience. The staff is amazing! They are ready to engage and interact with shoppers to tell the rich history of The Havisham Society. There is something new to discover each and every time you visit and no other shops like it in the northeast. Located halfway between Boston and New York - it's in the Parkville area of Hartford, CT. Make sure that you allow plenty of time to visit. Don't rush! There is SO much to take in, see and experience. From haunted artifacts really!, the shop brings in talented tarot readers, psychic mediums and offers immersive theatrical performances. Check their website for upcoming theatrical events. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for specialty days and events. Stop by for a spell. You won't be disappointed!
One of the coolest little places in CT, a store full of interesting things and an excellent weird attraction to visit. One of the best attractions in CT although getting in can be a problem, simply call the place and you will be let in if the front door seems locked. Unsettling building by the way. Every time I go there, something feels off.
I LOVE Curioporium !!! if you are into the creepy, dark, spooky, haunted, Gothic, steampunk, and all around morbid curiosity seeker this place is for you. Everything from haunted artifacts to books, candles, tarot cards, and hey I even got a pair of Edgar Allen Poe socks. Anyway it's a definite must see if you are in the Hartford area. They also hold cool events that you can find listed on their website.
I have been to the Curioporium many times to shop and also attend some of the events held there. It's always a lot of fun. The attention to detail throughout it is peak and the staff are really cool! LOVE THIS PLACE!
Officially in love. So finally took a minute to check this place out since I have been told to go....between my love of antiques and the oddities it's the perfect mix! They have so much great stuff and I will definitely be back to see what they get in for new stuff. My creepy clock is the best!
This is a don’t miss experience and you’ll want to jump on visiting before tickets sell out! This is the most whimsical, clever and haunting experience that I know of. When you start your experience they really let you know they every move was calculated when each piece of art was created and every addition to the “collection” was thought out. I can’t wait to take everyone I know here. I could spent hours getting lost in all of the sights, sounds and attention to detail. After the year we’ve had, the hosts’ humor are so appreciated.
While we had a fun time there, the Curioporium is not all it seems to be. I won't support any business that withhold an artist's work and has improper business practices. That place wouldn't be half as cool as it is if it weren't for the artist that made it that. It's not ok.
