I offer international cooking classes/demonstrations in the central SD area. The goal is to help people eat affordable, delicious and healthier food.
Originally from the east coast I was blessed to be brought up on home-cooked food. My mom was adventurous and encouraged trying new foods. College took me to Kenya and Uganda where I got to experience foods from all over Africa. Vastly different cultures and foods fascinated me.
I learned more about the gift of hospitality. Being welcomed into someone’s home and offered a meal is an honor and a privilege. I was always given the best they had to offer.
Finishing college in Philadelphia (where I met my hubby, Steve) I was introduced to Asian foods (something other than Chinese) for the first time: Vietnamese, Cambodian, Japanese, Indian, etc. Again, I was graciously welcomed into homes and fed small feasts. My tastebuds had never had it so good.
Living in Nepal for over 15 years has given me the opportunity to experience so many other cultures and their food. God has blessed me with hands-on learning about other people and the food they eat. I want to share that learning with others. At the same time I want people to see that eating flavorful, healthy and home-cooked meals is economical and not as hard as you may think. “Stuff on Rice” is the quickest go-to meal at my house and ready in just 30 minutes.
