BLUF: great food, great margaritas First time here. We started with cheese dip which was just okay. We ordered a chamaray mango margarita which had a little spice and great flavor. My brother had the house margaritas and it was also good. I had the Anita’s tacos. Chorizo and steak were great. My brother ordered Los seis hermanos which was 6 jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon and cheese. Spicy and good. The beans they bring out are also good. This was my first visit to this place. It was pretty good. I'd like to try a couple more menu selections before I really pass judgement. Today I tried a meal called the Garage Special. It was a steak smothered with spinach and cheese, some bacon-wrapped shrimp, avocado salad, rice and charro beans. First of all let me say..... it's a lot of food. Don't fill up on the chips and salsa. btw, the spicy salsa is really good As for the meal I had, it was really flavorful. My steak was a little overcooked for my liking which I think led to it being a bit chewy. But, all in all, everything was really flavorful and it was a good meal. The service was pretty good considering it appeared that they were possibly a bit understaffed. At one point I noticed about 8 or 10 people standing up front waiting to be seated with no hostess in sight and two empty tables just in the area that I was sitting. With that being said, all things considered, this is the weekend prior to the eclipse and maybe they underestimated the crowd they would be having. Also, to their credit, the wait staff was absolutely hustling and very friendly. I look forward to trying out more of the menu.
The food was very good. We are visiting friends here in Justin. A must try while you're here.Food: 5/5
Another restaurant creating mixed impressions for me, but most are good. Started with drinks. I merely had a big XX draft. My wife had a pina colada, which they prepare differently than any we have ever had. Made with Bailey’s, Malibu Rum and their own pina colada mix, this was the most unique, rich and flavorful Pina Colada either of us have ever tasted. Such a step up for the usual. We then ordered a bowl of Queso which was much too big. They need a small and large. Also, this is really bad Queso. No real flavor other than cheap melted American cheese, or at least that is what it tasted like. If you like Queso, avoid this. The free chips and salsa to start were above average as far as salsa flavor, so we just kept with those. My wife had the Beny’s Combo – a really nice offering for you to mix and match between enchiladas, tacos, tostadas and tamales. She ordered three different enchiladas, but was served two along with a cheese taco. The enchiladas were good but the taco was simply a tortilla filled with shredded cheese. I had the Migue’s Tacos. The tacos themselves were excellent – filled nicely, good flavor to the chicken, and nice amount of onion and peppers. This element of the meal was five star. My meal came with what was billed as avocado salad. What that turned out to be was a few slices of avocado on a bed of brown, wilted lettuce. The chef and the serve should have been embarrassed to serve it the lettuce was so past its prime. The charro beans on the side were runny and flavorless. The rice on the side was very ordinary and also lacked flavor, like from a mix. The alligator sauce served on the side was some kind of green sauce with a high level of pepper kick. No subtlety, so not really very good. The refried beans on the side of my wife’s meal were equally ordinary and tasted like they came from a can. The service and enthusiasm of the team was excellent. The space itself is small and intimate in that TexMex dive kind of way. So, overall a great pina colada, good enchiladas, excellent Migue’s tacos, and perfection as far as service. But, all of the sides and extras were on a scale from ordinary and dull to terrible. We will give it one more chance because there were quite a few other main courses that seemed very creative and interesting, and if they are like the Migue’s tacos, then it could be worth a visit or two. But, unless the sides are improved, this can’t rate more than 3 stars.
I apparently need to make it out to Justin more often! We stopped after some boot shopping for lunch! An obviously popular place, we settled into our seats. Quick friendly service with that small town touch. Normally I’m not a big salsa girl, but theirs tasted so fresh! The margarita -and floater- was great!!! Enchiladas were tasty and a great tomatillo sauce- i will be back to truly test this place and order the chili rellenos- my true test- If you find yourself in the area- take the time to try them!
The BEST atmosphere, staff, management and tasting food I have experienced! Delicious! Fun! Eat here! We will be back! Drive through staff were rock stars tonight!Food: 5/5
Heard mixed reviews and decided to make our own assessment….. we loved it…. Staff was friendly and prompt, it’s like the way I ran my restaurant, all servers help everyone else none of that, “that’s not my section” stuff everyone that walks by the table assists in refills of drinks, chips, salsa, removing plates etc…. Food was good as well…. Everything was fresh. When you go the apple pie is a must…. It’s excellent.
This is the highest review I have ever given. I come from a place where the customer service standards are incredibly high so that's the first thing I noticed a lack of, especially in north Texas. Yet, that did not apply here. Service was IMPECCABLE! The food was amazing, the tacos were delicious. This was an experience, for sure. So humbling being here thank you!
There margaritas here are so good. They almost remind me of rio mambos margarita. Get what you pay for. Food is also good as wellFood: 5/5
