Mark Michael Diamond Designs is a family-owned jewelry store specializing in custom jewelry design, unique engagement rings, and on-site jewelry repairs.
Founder and owner, Mark Lauer, studied jewelry design in college, creating and selling jewelry on campus to help pay for his college tuition.
Designing was Mark's true passion and in 1985 Mark's brother Michael joined forces with him, and Mark Michael Designs was born. Mark designed and manufactured the jewelry while Mike traveled all over the US selling to jewelry retailers. Soon they had over 100 accounts, a downtown Minneapolis manufacturing facility, and Mark Michael jewelry was being sold across the country.
In 1997 Mark's brother Mike passed away suddenly. Mark was left with a difficult choice: either close the business or forge on alone. After encouragement from other colleagues in the jewelry industry, Mark decided to continue on.
In 2000 Mark opened his retail gallery Mark Michael Diamond Designs on Main Street. Today we are proud to offer original diamond and gemstone jewelry designs, as well as unique engagement rings handcrafted on-site. We consider custom jewelry design our specialty. From sketch designs to CAD renders, wax models, metal casting, and final finishing each one-of-a-kind custom piece is made on-site in our Maple Grove studio.
