Our Mission
Marpole Bilingual Montessori School is dedicated to providing an enriching and challenging bilingual educational environment where each child is encouraged to grow to his or her fullest potential academically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Through the dynamic partnership of child, parent, and teacher, a consistent Montessori framework for learning is developed, offering “An Education for Life.”
Classroom Environment
Our classes are carefully designed to give each child the best possible learning environment to grow and develop to their fullest potential. Each class consists of one English teacher and one French teacher, with 20 students maximum to ensure that every student gets the attention and support they need to succeed. Students speak exclusively in French with their French teacher, and in English with their English teacher, to help develop the child’s bilingual abilities and maximize cognitive development.
The class group includes students from ages 32 months to 6 years old, which creates a dynamic environment in which students learn to cooperate and support each other as they learn. The younger children benefit from having more mature students to interact with and learn from. At the same time, the older children develop leadership skills and further master their subject matter knowledge.
Outside their core academic learning, students engage in activities such as Yoga, Arts & Crafts, and Music. As a result, our students graduate from our program with the confidence and ability to excel in any program that they choose to pursue.
What is the Montessori Method?
The Montessori method of education is based on two principles: giving children guided freedom to learn and explore, and providing a learning environment that stimulates exposure and experience. Within this environment, children develop in a range of different areas (intelligence, social, psychological, and physical). Montessori education promotes the innate satisfaction that a child gains from completing a task, and creates curious, self-motivated, responsible individuals.
90% Montessori, 10% Traditional
At Marpole Bilingual Montessori we take a bilingual approach to the Montessori Philosophy but with structured traditional teachings as well. We feel this provides the students with the freedom to explore, create and design but also provides them with the foundation to succeed later in their academic career. 90% of our curriculum is derived from the Montessori method, and the remaining 10% is a traditional education approach with enrichment activities.
