When you have cowboy'd for a living like George Martin, you understand the need for good quality "cowboy gear". When the quality of craftsmanship you need and desire is difficult to find; well, then you build your own; and that's just what he did! George has loved and lived the cowboy lifestyle his whole life. He worked on ranches throughout the western states. It was through these travels that he noticed one similar trend...A lack of quality working gear readily available. George began making his own chaps, saddles and much needed gear. He knew if it was quality he needed it was quality he would make. In 1971, George jumped at the opportunity to purchase a shoe repair shop. In 1982, he expanded his business (and his boot making skills). As he and his family moved about for work, so did the shop. His daughter Kelly could always be found by her dad's side on the ranch or helping in the shop, George's "side-kick" didn't venture to far away. Eventually Kelly would have the same passion for quality boots and gear that her dad has. Kelly's apprenticeship began at an early age and with 30+ years of hands on experience with her dad by her side she has not only learned a trade, she developed an artisan's finesse that only comes with time through a passion for quality. Now, based in the heart of the Great Basin in Battle Mountain, Nevada. Kelly has taken her father's influence to new strides. She has been accepted as a woman boot maker in what has been a male dominated craft. Although, retired from his full time boot making career, George often finds time to stop by the shop and inspect the quality and craftsmanship of Kellys work. Well, that is when he isn't off doing cowboy stuff any chance he gets.
