Martin County Animal Enforcement Division: A Division of the Martin County Sheriff's Office

Tim Manning, Sheriff

Description

Martin County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement Division provides a shelter for stray animals and owner turn-in animals, which can either be placed up for adoption or euthanized. NC State law only requires stray animals be held for 72 hours. It is very important if you have lost an animal to immediately report it.

The Sheriff’s Office also provides additional animal control services such as loaning out of dog/cat traps and investigating animal bites and animal cruelty in the county, as well as offering annual rabies clinics by partnering with local veterinarians.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office encourages animal adoption. Pets can help improve your health – not to mention giving a great home to a pet in need. Please come by during the hours above to consider pets for adoption.

The Martin County Animal Shelter also partners with Moratoc Animal Rescue on pet adoptions and other issues concerning animals. Moratoc Animal Rescue holds adoption clinics regularly.

Several municipalities in Martin County have their own animal control ordinances. Check with your town to see what animal regulations they have.
