First time eating there and it was good. Could have given bigger portions of chitterlings and should come with rice. But had to add as a side. I ordered online and picked it up within 15 minutes. Also got pork chops and meatloaf Parking: This is a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking. Kid-friendliness: It is a restaurant setting.. so good for family meals. Wheelchair accessibility: The sidewalk provides wheelchair access.
I got pork ribs with mac and cheese and greens. there was no seasoning on any of the side items. I’ve never experienced greens cooked without seasoning, I am astonished.Food: 1/5
Food was too salty. And my componanion ordered the liver that tasted very dry. And then there was a surprise…… plastic in the Salisbury steak. Disgusting. God knows what else is accidentally mixed in the food. Beware !!!Food: 1/5
The woman working the front was very lovely and friendly. I waited about 30 minutes for my food to go. I ordered two Chitterling meals, a side of Mac n cheese and a side of potato salad. I am BEYOND DISAPPOINTED!!! The Collard greens had NO FLAVOR!! The Mac n cheese on my plate tasted completely different from the side of Mac n cheese and the Chitterlings were flavorless thank GOD for Franks! and the portions were HORRIBLE for $21.00 a plate. This was the worst $60 I’ve spent in a long time. I love supporting small businesses but this is was a huge disappointment!!! Kid-friendliness: They have a family dining space.
My wife and I were here this week at our church convention and came across Martin’s Soul food and I don’t have anything negative to say about our experience. My purpose was to get platters for my wife and I after our evening service to have in our hotel to eat, but my platter did not make it out of the restaurant. The food was so good one bite and the rest is history!! My wife enjoyed hers. Thank you and thank you for even having clean restrooms. God Bless! Dr. Dickerson
I was back in town. And I was starving. And I definitely didn't want to eat somethibg I can get anywhere. So i felt soul good would be a great option. I had been here before. But it was a while ago. So I needed a refresher.. or a reminder. When I went in I was the only one there. I think they had just opened up.. I ordered my fav.. shrimp. The food didn't take too long to cook. And I had sweet tea. The tra was hitting so I knew. The food had to be on point. And it did not disappoint. The shrimp was banging!!!! And trust ne when I tell you I have had shrimp all over. And the portions I got was decent. Decent enough I didn't finish my plate. I was stuffed. So if you out near janaf. And you hungry. This is a great option. I was told they have 2 locations also. The other off church st I believe. But I definitely recommend this spot.
Visited this location on 10/07/22. The service was great. Waited a bit but it was worth it. My next trip to Va. I will return. My only complaint was the peach cobbler if you want to call it that. It was mushy. The crust was non existent
Baby let me tell you something, those fried turkey chops are so good!!!!! I had to buy them two days in a row!! Whatever they used to season then things up, I need it!! The staff is also very friendly and polite. The only thing I didn't like was the banana pudding I tried the other day. It tasted like regular pudding that you'd make with the jello packs and nothing special. Other than that, everything was good! Update: So now I've tried the Turkey breast sandwich, which was really good and very well seasoned!! I had it with the mashed potatoes and corn, it was perfect!! The turkey breast is fried and seasoned very well!!!
The chicken wings were fried in old oil. Rice was bland and gravy has no seasoning in it. I was really disappointed as the prices went up which is understandable but the food is not worth it. My friend had fish and cabbage same situation. It's like they forgot to put soul in it.
Tried Martins for the first due to word of mouth ! I would say the prices were fair for the portion size, and the food itself was pretty decent. I got the meatloaf with ketchup , mac and cheese , yams and greens. One bit of feed back I have was the Mac and cheese wasn’t baked like in the picture was looking forward to that as this is listed for soul food and it was a little on the salty side. The yams and greens were great though! I also got two desserts ... the peach cobbler was very good ... but the banana pudding wasn’t what I was expecting it to be. All in all it wasn’t a bad experience and I would definitely go back... I just hope those two things with the Mac and cheese and banana pudding improve
