Prescriptions are not treated with any urgency or importance. I was completely cut off from a medication because I was attending school out of state. For over a year, I had no issues picking up my prescription from my pharmacy there until all of a sudden my provider refused to issue any more refills until I could make a visit in person. I was not told about this in advance and was incapable of making an office visit so my provider issued one last refill without any guidance on how to taper off of the medication safely however, my pharmacy did not have any in stock. When I explained that I never got the refill, my provider did not care. Medications should really be taken more seriously.
I agree that the doctors are incredible. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to get an appointment. The times that I was able to get an appointment, they get canceled a day or two before. *Updated 4/11/23 So far this year, they are much more consistent with appointments and not as many cancelations.
The medical staff is great, but attempt to get an appointment, or even a call back, and you're going to need a lot of patience. Due to an incorrect box being checked off on a form completed by Martin's Point, I had a surgery get cancelled while I was in pre-op, AT THE HOSPITAL. Once I called to find out what the issue was that morning, they said the would mark it urgent, and call me back. When I hadn't heard back after 5 hours, I called them back, and that was when they admitted their mistake, and said they followed up with the hospital to let them know the error. Now, I need to make my own arrangements for another surgery. This is completely unacceptable for any line of business, but for a doctors office, it's downright frightening. If it weren't for my primary care physician, I wouldn't bother with Martin's Point. After this incredible error, I'm considering other options.
Went in for an annual check up which is covered by my insurance...weeks later got a bill asked why. Was told because I ask the doctor a question about a rash so that went above and beyond the restrictions for a annual visit!!!?????????So had to pay out of pocket for a question in the check up of my body. Healthcare.. awesome job martin point way to help us.
I called a year ago to book an annual wellness exam. It took them an entire year to schedule me in. I took the day off from work to attend my appointment, and they had scheduled it incorrectly. I now have to wait two more months and miss more work and pay another co-pay to be seen by my physician for a physical. It is clear that the staffing here is stretched too thin to be effective at their jobs.
Very unreliable. Communication is near impossible. Hard to get someone to answer the phone. Help with fixing a simple medication refill when someone does answer the phone is a different answer depending on who answers the phone. After years of dealing with these problems and sweeping them under the rug I’ve had enough. If you’re looking for a PCP or any medical advice, do your self a favor and don’t go here. There’s a reason why they are always taking new patients.
Doctors are good, but its almost impossible to see your Primary Care provider unless you make an appointment 8 months in advance. Even if you do schedule your appointment 8 months to 1 year in advance there is a chance there will be a scheduling conflict. That will require you to reschedule another 4-5 months out, it can be extremely frustrating and it is the reason I am looking for another family doctor.
The physician assistants, lab technicians, and doctors are phenomenal - Dr. Gallo in particular is amazing, and I'd give her 5 stars as a standalone practitioner. Unfortunately, the administrative and front desk staff are frustrating barriers to the care of those doctors and bring the experience down in a big way. Long hold times on the phone and online portal communication confusion may be industry-wide issues in the healthcare field; but the inability to schedule / keep appointments is why I am currently seeking a PCP outside of the Martin's Point group.
The doctors are wonderful, but the support staff are useless. Get ready for cancelled appointments, lack of communication, rude support staff one phlebotomist is agressively, dangerously rude and an inability to see your doctor. Literally anywhere else is a better option. Edit: on my 55th minute on hold. I've been trying to resolve a mistake the office made that's preventing me from getting timely medications. The pharmacy has since closed, but I'm staying on the phone for as long as it takes, ready to give them hell. Zero stars if I could. Stay away. 2nd Edit: Had an appointment cancelled on me with 40min advance notice. It took for 300minutes of hold -- on a call where THEY called ME -- to get a hold of someone to reschedule When that happened, they wanted to go 6 weeks out for an appt that needed to be done this week. When I told them that wouldn't work, I was on hold for another 15 minutes, then disconnected! Zero stars if I could. Hey! If I cancel same day, I'm charged a fee. Can anyone tell me where I can send my bill for same-day cancellation to them?
Dr. Carey has been my doctor for many years. I love the new location and the staff is always polite and respectful to everyone. They always get back to me in a timely fashion. Its very easy to change appointments and other office needs. I feel that the office is always looking out for me. Thank you martins point and thank you Dr. Sean carey.
