Mary Nevius Art
Mary Nevius came upon this unique style of art while brainstorming a painting idea and grabbing an old shirt for a trial run. Using gouache paint, the material pattern was able to penetrate through the image and the textile fibers allowed the shadow to bleed as watercolor. From there, the Goodwill Store became her craft store. The purchase of frames and materials benefit Goodwill and all textiles are given a second chance.
Hating to see the remnants of the material go to waste, another idea was formed. Creating birds from the scraps and blending together to create a one-of-a-kind soft sculpture.
Mary always had a love of sewing and drawing. Taking classes at Atlantic Cape Community College helped to frame her skills. Her primary medium choice is watercolor.
She lives in Mullica Township with her husband and children.
