UMD's Zooarch Lab is a new addition to the Dept. of Anthropology that aids in teaching and research focusing on animal remains from archaeological sites.
The recently-established Zooarchaeology Lab at the University of Maryland is home to a reference collection that is currently primarily focused on terrestrial and marine mammals, birds, and fishes related to environments in the North Atlantic region. This lab is primarily focused on, and supported by, the North Atlantic Biocultural Organisation (NABO; nabohome.org). Additionally, this Lab both benefits from and contributes to the abundant research capabilities available in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. region.
The Lab is located in the basement of Taliaferro Hall in room B0104, just one building west of the Department of Anthropology in Woods Hall.
