This is a great place to see what's happening in the Children's Room at Mason Library.
In accordance with the principles expressed in the library Bill of Rights and Free Access to Libraries for Minors (Intellectual Freedom Manual, 6th edition, American
Library Association, 2001), every child in Massachusetts is entitled to a free, readily accessible and specialized program of public library service. The essential goals of public library service to children are to introduce them to the love of reading and literature and to help them become capable, critical users of information and technology. Children must have access on an equal basis to all library services and materials provided to adults, including programs, reserves and interlibrary loan, access to the Internet, online databases and other developing electronic technologies.
The mission of the Great Barrington Libraries is to serve all members of our evolving community in a welcoming manner. We are dedicated to:
Providing and promoting responsive, free, and ready access to printed and electronic resources;
Developing collections and programming that include a broad spectrum of materials and services;
Encouraging everyone to experience the joy of reading and learning.
