This place is always very clean and the staff are usually pretty nice. I never have any issues going here. The ER week can be quite long sometimes, but that's expected anywhere. And I really extremely like the behavioral unit they just put in with Dr. Joe Kennedy. She is amazing and I think she's going to do great things there for a lot of people.
If I could I would give them ZERO stars. I was experiencing back pain, that sometimes radiated to my front chest for a week. Finally went to the ER after not being able to sleep from the pain. Blood pressure was normal, but DR thought was a cardiac issue and ordered an EKG. ?? After being hooked up for awhile the Dr. Said he didn’t think it was a cardiac issue, but wasn’t sure what was wrong with me. He never did a physical exam on my back. I was discharged after four hours and still in pain. He did NOTHING for my back or pain and did not even give me a note for work. The same day I was discharged I went to urgent care in Potsdam and was told I pulled muscles around my “floating” ribs. I was given a work note for a week and prescribed Ibuprofen for the pain. I then receive a bill in the mail for over $6000. I have called REPEATEDLY about this bill. They have done NOTHING about it. Why would I pay $6,000 for a misdiagnosis? Why was I charged for TWO different EKG’S? The only thing the Massena Memorial did for me was run up a bill I can’t afford to pay. I was still paying on this bill during the COVID shutdown. I was laid off during the shutdown, they were the ONLY place that REFUSED to defer my payments until my unemployment was approved and sent my account to collections. WHAT A JOKE. If you want real medical attention better off driving to Malone or Ogdensburg.
If you make an appointment with Massena Hospital Imaging, you should fully expect to get a call from them a few hours before your appointment time to cancel. Doesn't matter if you scheduled 2 or even 4 weeks ahead of time! I pre-scheduled and pre-registered a few weeks ahead of time for my ultrasound, then got a call at work a few hours before my appointment time that I aranged babysitting for over a week ago. Ultrasound tech didn't show up, so they moved me all the way to the end of the line, in 2 weeks, after all the people that got scheduled AFTER me. I am sure they'll reschedule me again in 2 weeks. Will probably have a baby before they bother to see me.
Place is overdue for change but nothing is changing and I doubt it will horrible staff doctors here discriminate on who get proper medical care they will let you suffer I recommend leaving st Lawrence County in general to get proper medical care
I've always received great care at Massena Hospital. I think the consolidation of hospitals in the North Country, although troubling to some, will ultimately improve the level of care offered here. I think "keeping it local" is preferable to being absorbed by a larger hospital from outside the area. Long distance trips for advanced care have always presented a challenge to North Country residents. And the lack of a trauma center has cost lives. Keep up the good work!
Hospital isn't equipped to even a subpar level!!! As a healthcare worker I noticed their negligent and unsafe practices instantly by the nurses and doctors when I questioned them about their unsafe practices they became confrontational!!! They are incompetent and ill-equipped the hospital needs to be shut down!!! Went to Potsdam and was was taken care of within an hr by obvious professionals!
Please never go to any of the hospitals in St. Lawrence Health System, they're all horrible with absolutely subhuman Care; Management doesn't care. If you want to stay alive choose another Health System. Malpractice is everywhere.
I wasn't a patient my friend had an MRI done it seems they take their time almost 2 hours other than that it was clean
Brought my daughter to the ER for a head injury. Every time I spoke to the doctor the nose part to my mask would fall down but mouth was still covered. The doctor which was a she refused to treat my 1 yr old. I asked for a different doctor and once again was refused. Said they will not assess her till the mask was worn properly. We were already admitted and in a room. I don’t understand how that’s even legal let alone how are u more concerned with my nose sticking out more than your are with a head injury. Will not be returning to that hospital ever and will be filing a complaint Monday morning. If you want proper care drive the extra mile to canton Potsdam hospital. I wouldn’t of even gave this a 1 star but to leave a review u have to
Absolutely terrible experience in the Emergency Room. The Doctor Frankel, who took care of my family member, is lax and does not care about the patients. Write's people off when they have serious issues at hand. My family member sat in there for 9 hours with nothing properly done. This Emergency department needs a serious evaluation of the care being provided. On top of this, all the Registered Nurses and medical care "professionals", had long acrylic nails. Long acrylic nails should not be worn by any health care personnel working with patients at the bedside. It is a breeding ground for bacteria. I cringed at seeing the nurse handling the IV's with these dirty nails. I am a Registered Nurse myself, this was preposterous to see. The CDC guidelines specifically state that health care personnel are not supposed to wear artificial nails. There is an extremely high risk of acquiring infections this way. My family and I will never go back to this Emergency room.
