OSU Extension delivers the latest research on preparing food safely and preserving the flavor of your bountiful garden.
What We Do
· Offer a wide range of food preservation and cooking classes, emphasizing seasonal produce, and always stressing food safety, at locations throughout Douglas County
· Test pressure canner gauges to ensure they operate properly and ensure safe and effective canning. This service is offered at the Douglas County OSU Extension Office, at many farmers markets and produce stands, and in conjunction with many of our classes.
· In conjunction with our peers from Lane County, we host and staff a food safety and preservation hotline that is active during the harvest and canning season (Typically July thru October) and a Holiday Hotline (prior to Thanksgiving) that serves Oregon residents and other callers.
