At Matthew Flowers, our passion is quality and sustainability. Providing you with four generations of San Diego floral experience, my family has made its name in floral excellence for over 75 years, starting with the founding of my great grandmother’s award winning flower shop, Adelaide’s of La Jolla. However, much has changed since the doors of my family’s first flower shop were opened; flowers have become a commodity chosen only by the lowest price, design has been condoned to what you can achieve by sticking boxed flowers into a clear generic vase, and the floral experience has been disconnected to from the very thing it is supposed to inspire, people.
So it’s time for another change. My new venture aims to reinstate the concept of a local, sustainable florist, bringing back the idea of having a personal relationship with your floral designer. Matthew Flowers is founded on the idea that flowers bring beauty, wonder and connection with nature back into people’s lives. Flowers, like humans, are delicate and unique and filled with intrinsic knowledge and meaning. Therefore, we believe the business of flowers should be taken seriously, by designers who are passionate about what they do, and who center their work on the quality of their product, and most importantly, their customers. I truly love flowers, and my hope is that through my business I am able to share this love with others.
