MATTRESSMAN was started in 2001 by Bob DiPietro and Karen Whiston-DiPietro of Belmont. Bob had managed stores for two regional mattress chains for several years and Karen had run Hearth & Home Fine Furnishings (between the Weirs and Meredith) for two decades. Their combined experience made it an easy decision to start their own mattress shop. They started out carrying the same big name brands everybody else was offering. But as the years went by it started to seem that some of the big brand names were simply living off their reputations. In some cases quality kept going down as prices kept going up. Some maintained their quality but prices were getting crazy.
So, MATTRESSMAN started shopping. We trusted that consumers were smart enough to know real value when they saw it…and felt it…no matter what the name was. Guess what ? We were right.
We found companies that bought the same components from the same vendors the big names bought theirs from. They're mattresses had the same looks, the same feels, the same quality and the same warranties…but, for a lot less money. We knew we were on to something.
As the economy faltered, value became even more important. Now, even one of the biggest brands in the business has caught on. We can’t tell you which one of the so-called “S” brands it is…but, they’ve introduced a whole new line of non-branded product at great value prices.
The mattresses are made in the same factory as the name brand…by the same people who make the name brand…and they ship on the same trucks as the name brand. But their hundreds of dollars less !! You’ll find them and other great values at MATTRESSMAN.
