I will be back here. I loved the campsites! They were all private with full grown trees and shrubs around each site. It was clean and had lots to do at the park. We took a bike ride on the shore of Lake Erie and around the Lodge area. It was beautiful even though Lake Erie had algae in it. There were two other inland lakes with beaches that were clean and suitable for swimming. The nature center was very nice and the employee very friendly and informative. Playground: Several play areas Restrooms: clean and modern Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly Picnic area: Many different picnic and shelter areas
We absolutely loved our visit at the Maumee Bay State Park. There is something here for everyone. With over 1336 Acres of land the park offers everything from the Trautman Nature Center and boardwalk miles of hiking and biking trails and the "Big Hill". Two separate Golf Courses including a Scottish Links style course, tennis and pickle ball courts, playgrounds, story book trail, picnic shelters and an archery range. Two separate beaches including the beach on the bay and an inland lake and the bay side beach with restroom and shower facilities, several inland lakes offering kayaking fishing and great birding opportunities and a large outdoor amphitheater. The park also offers a variety of places to stay including a beautiful Lakeside Lodge with a marina, pool, restaurant, lounge and gift shop, cabins and an wonderfully laid out campgrounds with nice large, private, level paved sites offering electrical hookups, picnic tables and fire ring. The campground store, office and gift shop was well kept offering a little of everything that you might need from firewood to ice. The park grounds were very clean and well maintained and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Located just minutes East of Toledo, Ohio the Maumee Bay State Park offers year round fun and is one of the nicest State Parks we have visited. We had a wonderful stay and plan to return.
Beautiful park. The campground sites are nice, large and private by being surrounded with trees and fields. Bike trails and walking trails are impeccably maintained. Restrooms and park is kept very clean. Having two lakes in the campground to walk to for fishing was a nice bonus. Very quiet and peaceful campground.
Beautiful park with nice sites and clean facilities. Located on Lake Erie. Great place for bike riding. Very flat. The only drawback was its proximity to petroleum plants 15 miles away. We had no odors. Playground: Fun areas Restrooms: Clean Dog-friendliness: Yes on leashes Picnic area: Large areas
Was a good time, park wasn't too packed for a Wednesday. Beautiful sunset & a good crowd. Bathroom wasn't upkept the greatest. Picnic area was very accessible. Saw lots of leashed dogs in the area, most of the owners seemed to be mindful of keeping them on the walking paths.
Beautiful, private sites. This was a large well kept park that has trees/growth between most sites which makes each site feel isolated. There are lots of activities to do in the park which is right on Lake Erie.
I enjoyed coming to this place, there's a park there and the lawns are cut beautifully. Though I will say that the water there looks pretty dirty and you can see a factory off in the distance so I don't know if the two are connected but overall had a good experience there.
Great state park had a very clean site. The fire ring has stone around it which is nice. Grass well mowed. The boardwalk trail near the lodge could use some work the boards are busted and sprung up when walking across. Restrooms: Very clean nice small shower house. Only two showers which can get busy.
Quick easy drive from Detroit, large campsites, 50A electric. Excellent maintained. Bike trails, golf course, small ponds for fishing, and best of all...un-Michigan-like state Park fire pits! I was truly impressed
The campground has wide and spacious sites. The sites are easy to back in to and level. Most are not full hookup sites but there is a street that has full hookup-although the paper you receive upon checkin states that there is no water. We stayed in an electric only site but it worked out well because there are grey water dump drains spaced well down the streets and water spigots with fresh water as well. The campground is dog friendly but be aware that the beach at the state park is NOT dog friendly, I was a little disappointed about that. Also be sure to check what the quality of the water is before jumping in to swim. The boardwalk which was closed at time of our visit July 2023 also has a sign that there are no pets allowed. Plenty of trails to take the pups on though and it looks as if there are some metro parks in the Toledo area you can go to. There is supposedly a pond that the dogs can swim in but it was like following a treasure map trying to find it. The instructions on how to find it were confusing and once we found the supposed pond, there were no signs specifying it was the dog friendly “beach”. We gave up and went back to the campsite. The weather was hot, humid, rainy and we even had a tornado warning! The map made it seem like the metal building behind the shower house was the official shelter but that did not look remotely safe so we hunkered down in the shower house. Thankfully there was no tornado. We spent one evening fishing at sunset on the concrete steps by the lodge, it was so pretty. We would love to come back one day!
