Attorney EvaMarie Franco brings an extensive background in litigation and counseling to Maya Murphy, P.C. EvaMarie Franco is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and is admitted to practice in both Connecticut and New York state courts. During law school Ms. Franco worked in Fordham’s Family Advocacy Clinic, where she handled both family law cases and special education matters. She initiated the Clinic’s first lawsuit in Federal Court and received a favorable decision, which was groundbreaking for both Fordham and law school clinics throughout the state. In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Franco studied prenuptial agreements and divorce litigation under Attorney Vikki Ziegler, star of Bravo’s Untying the Knot. Upon graduation, she was honored with the Archibald R. Murray Service Award summa cum laude in recognition for her dedication of over 1,500 hours of pro bono work during law school to victims of domestic violence and families in crisis.
Her daily responsibilities include managing and litigating all matrimonial/family matters, and bankruptcy filings. She also regularly handles will drafting, estate planning, contract drafting, contract litigation, and corporate formation and dissolution, among other areas.
Attorney Ashling M. Soares is a graduate of the University of Miami School of law, cum laude, and is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York, and Florida. Ms. Soares earned her B.A. in Sociology from Boston College, where she interned at a private criminal defense law firm. During law school, Ms. Soares worked in the University of Miami’s Children and Youth Law Clinic, where she represented current and former foster care youth in dependence, health care, mental health, disability, independent living, education, immigration and other general civil legal matters. Ms. Soares also gained extensive litigation experience while interning at both the Miami Public Defender’s Office and the Broward Public Defender’s Office.
