I don't know if it's a good school but I will be going there in 2024
Very good school. You have to take initiative though, which is fine. However I just find other schools go above and beyond without you having to take such initiative.
Great—expect for Ms Mitchell in grade 10 math. Someone teach her how to mark.
Wow things have surely changed in 30 years. I loved this school and the teachers. I was the 2nd East Indian at the school and was never disrespected by anyone. In fact students use to ask me about my culture and background all the time. Many of the students lived on farms. Going to McDonald's in heart lake for lunch was a real treat. One teacher who helped shape my life was an English teacher by the name of Mr. McNeil. He had such a large and loud voice. He truly was a great inspiration to me. I hope he's still around Go Mayfield Go....
It's fantastic! My daughter who is in grade 9 arts program there LOVES IT! It's like Fame/High School Musical all rolled into one ! If I could give the school 10 stars I would.
Very disappointing and unprofessional school. Need Improvment in educational department. Their department don’t know how to judge students. They reject students for little things.I also check their quality of visual art at Instagram and it’s not that high which they are actually pretending.
My daughters guidance counsellor is so unhelpful. Every time she has contacted her guidance counsellor during the covid-19 pandemic being a student who has stayed home the entire time, she has received little to no assistance. Her guidance counsellor, Ms. Grant, replies in 1 sentence to each email issued and sometimes doesn’t even answer her questions properly. Very unprofessional.
I went to Mayfield a while back now...maybe 15 or 16 years ago. I see some comments of teachers being racist to white males lol that in itself deserves a whole other comment? This is a big change. As one of the few Latinas in the school I distinctly remember having a nickname "Taco" along with other ones that weren't as derogatory. I didn't experience racism or elitism from the teachers but most definitely from the student body. As a dancer, many of the other girls in the program were extremely elitist and racist... ridiculously... I have never heard those types of comments in any other school. I was a straight A student and loved dance but I dropped out because of these experiences and went on to a regular program in Brampton. Do not regret dropping out of the Dance program at all. I would say that the fine arts teachers, however, are high quality. Most definitely. Especially for a publicly funded arts school.
Mayfield Secondary School is a good school overall. Except there needs to be improvement in the following areas: Do tell student during registration that student activity fee is required. This fee is optional. There should not be a fee at all! The school can hold a fundraiser if money is needed for additional activities or student group. Next the students should be given their time table when the pick up their report cards in the summer, if possible so that returning students do not have to wait in line unnecessarily.' Thanks!
