We like this campsite as it is close to Swartz Bay and the Gulf Islands and the Lockside Trail starts very nearby. Unfortunately there are no showers and there are pit toilets, but you can get a shower for $2 at the Panorama Recreation Centre near the airport. Park staff come by daily and they are very helpful. The seniors rate makes it very affordable. We'll be back.
We stayed in smonecten right at the ferry. Keep in mind we sleep through anything, the ferry traffic goes on all night. That's it. It's beautiful and our lil spot was perfect. Close to Sydney for whatever you need. Close to Victoria but not in a busy area. There's a store within 10 minute walk.
Good campground. Pit toilets clean and didn’t smell. Highway noise can be heard until late night and it starts early morning, but I managed to sleep without ear plugs. We went to Oak Bay Recreation Centre to take a shower for $2 per person.
This is a great campground - super convenient location, great campground hosts who work hard to enforce rules like 10pm quiet time. Yes it is near the highway, but the noise tapers off in the evening - I woke up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and didn't hear a single car go by. Definitely pick an "inside" site as they are quieter. If you are a tent camper, many sites have lovely sand tent pads - I really enjoyed this!! The bathroom was clean and did not smell other than to be expected from a pit toilet. The campground itself was very pretty.
It's a nice campground, but it's right next to a highway. So if you have absolutely no where else to go, head over here.
Amazing spot to pitch your tent! Although there's no showers or flush toilets, the sites and pit toilets are very well maintained! Sites are decent sized and very private. The highway noise didn't bother us at all. Friendly staff.
It’s a pretty good national parks campground close to Schwartz Bay ferry terminal, Victoria Airport and 30 minutes from Victoria. Beautiful trees but the highway, airplane and ferry noises are noticeable. The staff are good at keeping the primitive toilets clean. No showers available. Not too bad spacing between campsites.
Clean spot and is well maintained. Staff are very friendly, helpful, and deliver firewood daily in the evening Once in the afternoon, we were about to go out, a staff told us he would come back to deliver firewood for us later, and he did as promised. Thank you very much for keeping the campground a wonderful and restful place. We are very grateful for what we have during our visit
A campground without any service, but that's okay. Realy nice spot in the trees!!
Good sized spots, clean. Nice and friendly staff. It was a little noisy with it being quite close to highways, but still worth the visit. Short bike ride in to Sidney.
