Good food... just a little ways in from 45.. but well worth it Only reason I gave them 4 stars is because it lacked the smiles and warm welcome when arriving.
Yummm son! Good stuff and great price! A FOUR meat plate for $9.99! I was thinking it may be a little lower quality at that price, but the brisket, ribs, hot link, and jalapeño sausage were all excellent. Good sauces, plentiful fixin’s, great staff... adding this as a regular stop will make trips to Dallas much more enjoyable.
A cool barbeque restaurant in Madisonville TX. The chopped beef sandwich was great. The meat was perfect. It didn't need any sauce on it. Adding sauce was almost an insult to the chef. The sauce was sweet and tasty.
The absolute worst BBQ I have ever had... 2 meat plate with brisket and pulled pork. Everything is flavorless! Pork is super tough and BBQ sauce reminds me of ketchup. There is NO WAY I will ever eat at the restaurant again.
I asked for my sausage not to be cut in this way for my wrap arounds but it was anyways. Didn't find out till I got all they way home to Huntsville to eat it. And ya'll were closed by then anyways.
Taste as good as I remember. I graduated at SHSU and ate here a lot. They catered my wedding as well. We were in town for a game a stopped by to eat. It taste like I remember.
First time there and not sure if I would frequent there often unless invited. Goods: the menu prices were decent and the plate size was normal, inside is nice and clean and the staff was nice also the nice faint smoke smell is always welcome. Cons: the food mine was sausage and chopped beef didn't have much taste to it and mine was blan, took half of my plate home. Ice tea was good. Maybe it was just a dry batch of beef or didn't get a splash of salt but I'm calling it like I had it.
I was not a fan. The turkey looked like it was fish, although it did taste like turkey. It was not anywhere close to great tasting Turkey. They also did not have sliced brisket, only chopped. The brisket was pretty awful. I covered it in BBQ sauce to try to enjoy it. It is not a restaurant that I want to return to.
First time we stopped at McKenzie BBQ, hands down, that was some dang good BBQ. Lisa McKenzie was so down to earth friendly. Glad she told of a location near our home in the Woodlands.
Randomly stopped here on our trip and we were very happy we did! Food was excellent! Meet was tender and okra crispy! Restaurant was very amazing on the inside with beautiful wood prices everywhere! Staff was also very friendly and helpful! Will probably stop by again on our way back!
