The whole McLaren hospital system is a total malpractice suit waiting to happen. I need a hysterectomy. I'm in total pain. Can hardly even work and Dr Kiley out of grand ledge couldn't do the surgery until October. OCTOBER!!! So i switched to the okemos office to get in a month sooner and do you know i cannot get in to see Dr kota AT ALL to get anything for the dibilitating pain I'm in and she wont prescribe anything because she hasn't seen me. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS HOSPITAL??? MAYBE I'LL JUST LET THIS KILL ME BECAUSE I CANNOT GO ON
Laura Kota told my wife to just expect all pregnancies to end in miscarriage. Who says that to another human? So matter of fact and dismissive. Does she understand we're not robots that can devalue life so easily? A truly disgusting human.
Id give it 0 stars if i could NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER GO HERE, been nothing but hell dealing with these people for 4 years and I’ve finally had enough, the desk woman at the Dewitt office is trash, terrible person, gives you nothing but attitude no matter what the situation is.I have been disrespected multiple times by the doctors/ nurses because I mentioned being worried that the depo messed with my fertility and knowing how old I am they’ve always responded with “well are you getting married” and when I’ve said no to being married they looked disgusted, they’ve told me “don’t you think your a little young” not even caring that 1 I don’t have a boyfriend and two I’m not planning I just need to make sure I can have kids on my own for peace of mind.also getting ahold of these people is a trip, I’ve listened to that hold music for almost an hour multiple times
This office billed medicare for new patient well care. For$673.00 for a pelvic and woman's exam to rule out any causes of IBS, knowing medicare would deny it. This was a 20 minute visit. Stay away from any doctor that avoided insurance by creative billing. I pay $311 in insurance and bcbs plan G this should have been 100% covered and would bring if they did not bill at as some package. I AM RETIRED AND CAN NOT AFFORD THIS INSANITY.
This practice confused me. They had me as a high risk pregnancy. I saw a doctor twice a week. Yet never did anyone help me with my vomiting or diarrhea that tormented me throughout my pregnancy, leading to weight loss. They did not prescribe any medications to help or offer IV fluids for rehydration. When it came time for my cesarean, I had hoped my OB would take control of the room, but she didn’t, and I had 4 different people shouting directions at me, which caused me to hyperventilate and need emergency medication. Dr Foucher did a lot of damage to my body during the cesarean due to preexisting scar tissue that she should have had a plan for, and more than six months later, I still cannot pick up my own son without excruciating pain. This has caused more mental anguish than I can describe—imagine not being able to pick up your crying child for six months and counting! so I tried to get help with my mental postpartum symptoms, but was refused an appointment. Instead of being knowledgeable about nerve entrapment, I was told by Dr Kota that my pain had nothing to do with obstetrics and they could not help me. I was referred to a general surgeon. It took visiting 10 different specialists before I learned about nerve entrapment pain from cesarean. I wish I’d had knowledgeable and caring obstetricians from this practice instead, who could have guided me through the most challenging time of my life, which continues to this day.
Worst OBGYN I have ever seen. They never return my phone calls . I keep leaving messages - only when I yell on the phone and say am dying in pain, they would give me an appointment. Whenever I call and ask to talk to a nurse , they say they are with a patient. 1 star I have given for the nurses and medical assistants there . They are amazing ! I mean every doctors office - the nurses do the talking and everything, the doctors make you wait and see you for only a few seconds . 1 star for Dr. Perry is great , kind and actually spoke with me for a few minutes . Definitely do not recommend this place .
I am an OB patient that just went to get bloodwork done by Joel. I have always been anxious about getting my blood drawn and as soon as I got in there with Joel he was huffing and puffing over the fact he had to do one more test. Then I told him that “I tend to pass out” he said “I don’t have time for you to pass out today”. If it wasn’t for my husband, I would’ve walked out of there and found a new doctor. To hire a man with ZERO sympathy or empathy to do blood work at an women’s health center is careless.
Two pregnancies later- this place is still awesome, if not better! The clinic staff are all friendly and kind. I can’t thank them enough for being so nice to my son who was with me on my check-ups pretty much all the time.
Dr Kota is the best OBGYN I have ever seen. My praise stops there though. Unfortunately this practice has yet to go paperless, something almost all establishments, medical or otherwise have already done. You have to fill out 5+ pages of paperwork every annual visit. Almost all of the information provided is information most practices keep on file in the computer. I hope this practice steps into the 21st century soon.
Everyone here is incredibly welcoming. They have wonderful bedside manor and make you feel safe and comfortable. I've been going here for about 15 years and I'm on my 3rd baby and I have always highly recommended them to anyone who is looking for an OBGYN!
