It is essential for patients to receive proper diagnosis, treatment and care. At MD Anderson, the Brain and Spine center treats patients with tumors of the central nervous system, pituitary gland and peripheral nerves. It is one of the largest and most comprehensive programs of its kind in the world. We perform more brain tumor surgeries than any hospital in the nation and provide a wide range of treatment options. Our team of physicians and researchers include experts from diverse disciplines to ensure patients receive a treatment plan that is complete and unique to their disease.
The goal of our Facebook page is to keep you informed on what's happening in our center and within the brain and spine cancer community. Our postings include new treatment information, physician updates, patient stories and more exclusive information.
We have all the support and wellness services needed to treat the whole person—not just the disease—and we want to share our services with you.
Our advanced technologies include:
BrainSuite—an operating room that combines both MRI and surgery to allow for more accurate tumor removal and help reduce the need for a second surgery. It is one of only two such systems in Texas.
Gamma Knife Radiosurgery—this treatment delivers a pinpoint dose of radiation to the tumor.
Proton Therapy—this treatment targets the tumor using beams of very fast-moving protons to deliver a precise does of radiation. It is the only center of its kind in the Southwest
The Brain and Spine Center also has clinical trials for the treatment of various brain and spine cancers available to patients—more than 200 patients enroll into clinical trials each year. Call 713-792-2883 or visit www.mdanderson.org/neuroclinicaltrials.
