Lovely campsite. We didn't have any campers across the road, so that was a plus!! Was close to a water source and bathrooms. The beach/showers/ playground wasn't very far either. Lots of ppl biking around the paved roads. No bear problems, like Limekiln lake and there are piles of hiking to do within a half hour. Warning.. the places to get campfire wood were scarce.
The RV side of the lake is SO noisy, it made tent camping miserable. The tent side of the lake is so poorly maintained, no functioning bathroom, and good luck if you fall on your hike. The lake is beautiful, the forest is beautiful, but the grounds and campsites are so outdated and in such poor condition that I don't feel that it is at all worth going back.
What a great campground, it has two sections one for wild camping in tents and the other that accommodates big RVs. The sites on the water are great but go fast. Our only disappointment this trip was Blackflies they were relentless but this is seasonal and not the campgrounds
First time being at this campground and it will definitely not be the last. I have camped at many different campgrounds in the Adirondacks and I can say after this time this one is my favorite! My husband and I stayed on the west side, where you have to hike in 3 minutes to your site. It was fabulous! The privy bathroom was cleaner than most public restrooms. The platform for our tent was amazingly helpful during the rainfall. The staff is incredibly talkative and friendly. The cleanest bathrooms and facilities for a campground I have ever seen. Highly, highly recommend!! Restrooms: Clean! Picnic area: Beautiful area on a beach
Have come here since I was a little kid and my parents long before that. Fantastic campground with great sites and all your basic facilities. No electric sites or cell service--which is Fantastic in my opinion. The East Side sites are where most people stay and most accessible to shower and flush bathroom facilities but the West Side sites are more secluded and quieter if you're looking for that experience. Love this park, worth a visit for sure. Playground: Big and nice playground for kids near the beach. Restrooms: Lots of bathrooms with flush toilets and cold water on the East Side of the park. 1 updated bathroom with showering facilities. The West side has Pit Toilet Outhouses only. Dog-friendliness: Leashed dogs with proof of shots welcome. We love bringing our dog. There are many campers with dogs and kids so if your dog is a barker or not friendly with other animals/kids you may not want to bring them.
Love this campground and the people. 5 stars will come with some improved shower buildings. So cold! No phone bars is also a detriment when long camping. NYS can invest small improvements to be a top rated campground.
this was maybe my fifth time camping here at Meacham Lake and it is on the list of favorites now. The ranger was very responsive when I brought an issue to his attention and for the most part the many campers there were super friendly and pleasant. Photo is of the supervisors while I was setting up!
I've been bringing my kids to Meacham every year for the last 5 years. It's a great campground. I enjoy the lake side sites, but have stayed inland and also across the lake at the secluded sites. They were all very nice sites. I also find them more private than other campgrounds I've been to. It's always pretty clean, and very affordable. I wish there was more community events at the outdoor amphitheater and group activities for the kids. I hiked Debar mountain my last stay. I brought my 5 yr old. It was a long hike but the views from summit made it worth it. I'm glad they started renting kayaks, its a great addition to the canoes and row boats. Going to Meacham to kick off our summer has become our family tradition!
Great campground! Friendly staff, all of the amenities you would expect at a nice camp ground. Great places to fish, nearly all of the campsites offer some privacy, though the sites closer to the gate are more wide open and "social" type sites. There are multiple boat launches to fit any need you would have. The main launch is a new facility, smooth paved parking lot with long spots for trailer parking, deep enough to launch fairly large boats, and handicap accessible. Over all this was a great long weekend spent at an amazing and beautiful Adirondack campground.
Despite not camping for years, I can definitely say that this is another place that is perfect for anyone looking to camp and spend time with their family. There's definitely a lot of places to camp around Northern New York like Coles Creek, Robert Moses, and Babbling Brook. But what makes this place stand out is the beautiful and serene location it's in. Nestled right in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, Meacham has all the camping space, all the amenities, and all the activities anyone can enjoy. They even have an ice cream truck that drives around the sites for the kids to enjoy. Sure there are a few things like the relentless biting flies, and no cell service. But even those are not a big problem here. I've been camping here for years and even spent a full day with family in recent occasions, and each experience is always a lot of fun. If you enjoy camping in the Summer, or even want to spend a day here, hitch your trailer, bring your tent, or hitch your boat for the lake, and come out for some good old fashioned camping fun!! Just be sure to bring a generator, as the campsites are all non electric.
