My family and I stayed here in the '60s and '70s when the Cook's owned it, then sold it to the Garmin's and had lots of really wonderful memories of multiple multiple weekends spent here and at Cedar Point. Used to be a high quality place with a VERY nice swimming pool out back and a cute little nine hole Putt-Putt, but now? JUST SAD. As to the train noise, you get used to it just like every other motel along that strip If I had the money, I'd buy this place and refurb it in a heartbeat. So sad to see it in this state of disrepair - PS: that bathroom tile is from the 1950s when the place was built and trust me, Mr Cook would be completely PO'd at its current condition
Don't go looking for wheelchair accessible rooms. They are not. Well the room was somewhat accessible but the bathroom was no way accessible unless you can walk. Don't go there alone and think you can just make it work. I gave them a 4 on location as they are only 10 to 15 minutes from cedar point. The carpet was old and had a smell. There were really no amenities besides a small fridge and a microwave. They did have cable.
We didn’t stay. I rented 2 rooms and they were beyond disgusting. We went into the first room, and outlets just hanging out of the walls. We then looked in the bathroom and there was small hole in the window frame that looked like a rodent hole. Then we pulled back the sheets on the first bed, and there were several bed bugs on the mattress on the corner we pulled up. Needless to say we ran! You should too!!! I would sleep in my car first! This place should be shut down!
This was definitely your No Frills very basic Budget Motel. The room was very small and there were no coffee or breakfast options. The room was nice and clean and served our purpose well. There is a train that runs across the street but it was not loud enough to bother us. The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. I recommend this place if you want a cheap room.
We choose this place because it had a 6.5 rating and it was close to where we needed to be the next day. This motel is no where near a 6.5 !!! The room was musty smelling, the furniture was old and broken, the mattresses were extremely old and worn out and uncomfortable. The TV was an old box tv and the picture was blurry. We had to run the shower for 15 minutes before the water got warm enough to shower and the towels and wash clothes were musty smelling! I brought my own towels and wash clothes In the morning we discovered thousands of tiny ants in bathroom and in one of the beds. The wifi signal was very weak so we barely could use our phones. All electric outlets were so old that when we plugged something in it fell right out of the sockets. I wasn't happy with my room as soon as I unlocked the door and I went to the office to speak with the manager/owner. She was rude and defensive to say the least. I wanted my money refunded but she refused to refund me. She actually tried to tell me that I was the ONLY PERSON TO EVER COMPLAIN about the motel. I find that very hard to believe. I almost forgot to mention that the room door had no deadbolt lock and the only lock was the door handle lock that could easily be opened with a credit card or 1 kick to the door. I didn't feel safe so I stayed awake most of the night. I would never recommend this motel and I definitely would never stay there again.
This hotel is horrible!! Barley had any sockets in the room and the ones they did have didn't work. The tv didn't work. The room smelled musty. The water pressure in shower was very low. I barely got a stream good enough to wash my body. They let someone in my room without verifying any info which was scary because it could have been a stalker or anything and they didn't offer anything to make it right. I will never stay at this place again and don't recommend it to anyone.
The motel rooms are a good place to sit while you're eating really quick... that's it. Do not try to nap or sleep because the train passes through & blows its loud horn throughout the middle of the night at least while I was there, I heard it 4 times. The top shower slide door railing track is low... so if you're tall remember to duck down or you'll be hitting the side of your head on it when entering and exiting the shower yeah... I did that LoL!!. There was an air conditioner, a TV with remote, a microwave & mini fridge in our room. You get the basics bath towels, mini bar soaps, mini shampoos & an extra roll of tissue. Overall it was an okay short stay we spent 99% of our time at Cedar Point.
The maintenance is horrible... broken windows and framework. The shower is so small I hit my head and it hurt the next day. But the maid service does an amazing job and the fold of the towels is beautiful. Best toilet paper I have ever used also. For 60 bucks and the proximity to Cedar Point it's worth it.
Room was nasty. Smelled of mildew and musk. Beds were hard as a rock and had blood stains on mattresses. Noticed while checking for bed bugs. Room service did not make both beds. Had a lot of random crack heads walking the neigborhood. Over priced paid $130 per night for 2 nights. Do not recommend
Has bed bugs. Have pictures of them all over mattress and box spring. Left right away and got refund. Do not stay here. Window in bathroom is busted and broke and the wood is rotten out and you can put your hands through it. Nasty.Rooms: 1/5
