Last week I was on my way to a legal hearing with my lawyer in the car and my car was struck from the rear by the canine unit. The officer was a VERY nice and VERY professional man. He was a perfect example of what I think a police officer should be. Fast forward to this week. I took care of all the insurance stuff. My car is scheduled to go into the shop this coming Monday morning. I'll be without it for at least a week or ten days. And THAT is the problem. It took me days to talk to someone in their "law department". Mass law says the insurance of the at fault driver pays for the rental, so my insurance is off the hook for that. The woman I finally spoke to said that *I* need to rent a car and submit a claim to them. And that claim may or may not eventually be paid. I explained that I was an elderly man living out in the sticks and that I live on a VERY limited budget and can't afford a rental. She said that there was nothing that she could do and that that was their policy. So, the police that I dealt with were GREAT people! The city people were absolutely terrible. If I ever have business near Boston again I'll drive anywhere but Medford!
Let me tell you, if I could give them no stars I would. I called trying to track down an officer that pulled me over because he accidentally kept my registration and the dispatcher that picked up was the least helpful person I have ever talked to in my life. He asked if I was even pulled over by a cop or some stranger because I couldn’t tell him if it was a state trooper or a Medford police that stopped me. I’m not from Medford, and he was getting frustrated because I couldn’t tell him where exactly in Medford I was pulled over. There’s no need to be an inconsiderate person to someone who’s just asking for help. I’m sorry if you’ve had a bad night but that’s not my fault so next time maybe be nice?
I'm not too familiar with how the police department operates nowadays, but I do remember growing up in the riverside projects in this city. Before this whole woke movement, black lives matter shenanigans. I think growing up in this city, was probably what allowed me to have more respect and understanding of what police officers were meant to do, though you may have a lot of new hires within the last 5 years or so. The old generation of police officers from, 2006-to 2013, and before, are the real MVPs. I have never experienced racism from a Medford police officer, and in fact, I was often given the benefit of the doubt, which I did not realize was a luxury until I encountered other departments. Criminals are always going to complain about officers, but they won't tell you how you treat them better than neighboring cities or departments. I understand there has been a whole new regime, in place and new hires so things may not be the same. But, When I was an adolescent, on multiple occasions officers would treat me like my Caucasian counterparts and I never understood that was what an officer was supposed to do until I had left the city. That being said, I'm not saying there were not some bad apples, but what I am saying is there were enough good apples that you could count the bad ones on one hand. Thank you, Ladies and Gentlemen! Always a pleasure!
Call to MPD to report possible first floor break-in as I heard some noises and saw screen door open from 2d fl. The officers were kind and did a perimeter check in challenging circumstances. Cleared that door not compromised before I went downstairs. Chat through front door screen to avoid Covid risk per my request. Kind, professional and patient the entire time. Thank you for being there.
Thank you so much for helping to locate my 87 year old husband. We were visiting our very pregnant daughter from out of state and he walked too far, alone, with no phone, no ID and only a vague sense of her address. He was lost…hot and tired! You guys were great with your speedy response!!!
I'm tired of backing the blue when they can't even keep records straight of when they visited our house so many times for domestic complaints about our upstairs neighbor, including the time his wife called from inside and we had to let them in through our house to get the police upstairs to help the wife and kids. Now, we can't get a restraining order because of statute of limitations and we're afraid of even being in our home, afraid for our dog that they hate and afraid that the police will never help. So disappointed that I've lost faith and trust in the system and it begins with my local police department. Who won today? Who did you protect? Justice is a fallacy and the police are only made to protect the interests of the wealthy. Another failure. Shame on you all. I once scraped your bodies off the roads as a Boston Paramedic for 7 years: thanks for less-than-nothing in return.
My parked car was involved in a hit and run twice over the course of 3 months and both times Medford PD responded quickly and tracked down information for me. Above and beyond my expectations. Forever grateful because if not for their help I would have had to pay a $1000 deductible twice. Officer Brooks is my hero today.
My wife and I went to the Medford PD for our fingerprint cards. I must say I was nervous as I have never been to a Police Station before. The officers here are the friendliest bunch I have ever met. Fingerprints were done in no time. Highly recommend.
I filed a police report after having a misunderstanding with my auto lender. I had believed my car was repoed but after calling it should have still been in my possession. I filed a stolen car report with the medford police department and they followed up an hour later saying that my car was towed from a location other than my driveway where the car was supposed to be. They refuse to open up an investigation to find out who stole my car but now I simply can't get it back because my registration is revoked. I haven't driven my car in months and haven't moved the vehicle for that reason. The transit officer in no way has returned my voicemail and I am stuck in limbo due to this office's complaincency.
The website seems to be down, so I have a request. Can you please start pulling over crazy drivers who try to run me down on my bike while yelling that bicyclists should not be on the road?! I was afraid some crazy Medford woman was going to kill me. I follow the rules and always signal and am in the correct lane for whi ch ever direction I am turning. But I never see drivers pulled over for almost killing us everyday . Instead, I see bicyclist pulled over for going carefully during a walks in to avoid being killed by these insane drivers. Not all drivers are bad, but there have been many times I wish someone would call them on attempted murder.
