The Medicine Store Pharmacy was established in 1982 by Pharmacist Martin Donovan. During the 90's, he kept receiving numerous questions about vitamins and supplements, and how they would react with their prescription. In a desire to help his customers as much as possible, he went back to school to be a clinical nutritionist (DCN) and an herbalist (Dip. Herb). He became astounded by how many symptoms are just signs of imbalance in the body. Most prescriptions merely cover over or mask these symptoms. But if you deal with the problem at its source, the problem goes away. He found that prescriptions absolutely have their time and place, however there are frequently other options that will help your body heal as opposed to masking its problems. With a renewed passion, he opened the Natural Wellness Corner inside the pharmacy in 2001. This is where he does lifestyle and nutritional counseling and helps supplement the body through natural supplements, vitamins, and herbs.
In 2011, Martin opened Capital Area Thermography, a medical thermal imaging center. He uses Thermography to help further asses what is going on inside the body such as inflammation, estrogen dominance, poor circulation, and cancer. Thermography was FDA approved in 1982 as an adjunctive health screening.
