Here at Mellifera Homestead, we try our hardest to do what is healthiest for us, our animals, our bees, and our environment. We try to utilize as much as we can from the earth and source ingredients from sustainable, local, and reliable suppliers.
We keep bees, chickens, a garden, and kitties. We love them all.
We appreciate and use all that the bees provide. Along with the honey, we harvest beeswax for use in all-natural body care products. All the beehive products, including lotions, lotion bars, lip balms, salves, face lotions, and hair products, are made with honey and/or wax and all-natural, high-quality oils and essential oils. We never add synthetic preservatives or additives. We are committed to practicing sustainable management techniques and we never put chemicals on our hives.
The chickens provide eggs and entertainment and our garden yields fresh herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers, and berries throughout the summer, and winter squash and sweet potatoes in the fall. We also grow lavender and calendula to use in the beehive products. We are researching techniques for saving seeds and growing cold tolerant produce.
