My pup recently had a somewhat urgent issue and I was unable to get an appointment with her usual veterinarian, so I found Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital and I was able to get an appointment on short notice, on a Saturday. We had such a great experience with this office. Dr. Jordan and the staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. My dog usually gets a little nervous at vet appointments but she was remarkably calm here. We will definitely be returning!
This is hard to write because this is an independent vet that I want to do well. However, I was mislead by the rating and reviews so feel compelled to write one to warn others. I have a cat, so maybe stop reading if you have a dog because I think their vet visits are a much smoother experience. They are uncomfortable with cats. It is not uncommon for cats to HATE vet visits. Cats do not follow instructions and they do not bend to your will, i.e. they are not dogs. On every visit I have listened to Dr Jordan talk about withholding food from my cat to make them obedient and that “for animals food is like money.” I don’t know maybe he just hates 3 strangers sticking a cold thermometer up his butt on a Wednesday afternoon? However, they make you feel ashamed for your cat being difficult. They are inappropriately equipped and experienced to deal with difficult cats. They will almost immediately suggest you simply come back for an appointment to sedate your cat so they can do the exam. Having recently watched my girlfriend’s vet deal with her cats a certain “modern” vet that is popping up all over LA I was left stunned at the difference in care and asked myself why I was putting my cat through this experience. So regrettably I leave Dr Jordan and his staff, but I believe there is a better way for my animal to get care - and that is my priority.
Been coming here with all my pups and Dr. Jordan and his staff are great with all of them from puppies to rescues, they are great with them and I’m happy I found this place. They can also accommodate appointments on short notice if needed which is super helpful for peace of mind. He’s been a working vet for so long so has a wide breadth of knowledge which is great!
Dr. Edd M Jordan is the kindest, sweetest man! He took me and my cat super last minute and made my cat feel comfortable and at ease during his appointment. Him and his staff are super knowledgeable and took great care of us. I feel lucky to have found such a nice, knowledgeable veterinarian. Thank you again for such a nice experience.
I recently had a highly disappointing experience with the Melrose-La Brea Animal Hospital, which I feel compelled to share with others. It seems that this establishment discriminates against certain breeds, such as Chow Chows, and the level of service I received was far from satisfactory. I made multiple attempts to contact the hospital via phone, hoping to schedule an appointment for my Chow Chow. Unfortunately, my calls were repeatedly met with hang-ups, leaving me feeling frustrated and unheard. When I finally managed to speak with a doctor, I was given a flimsy excuse that they would be going out of town. This lack of professionalism and disregard for my pet's needs was disheartening. To make matters worse, when I called back to reschedule, I was informed that the hospital was experiencing COVID-related issues. While I understand the challenges posed by the pandemic, it was unsettling to encounter such inconsistent and unresponsive communication from the staff. As a responsible pet owner, I expected a veterinary clinic to provide equal care and attention to all breeds. It is disheartening to witness discrimination against specific breeds like Chow Chows at Melrose-La Brea Animal Hospital. Discrimination should never have a place in the field of animal care, and it is disappointing to see it exhibited here. I strongly urge the management of Melrose-La Brea Animal Hospital to address these concerns promptly and take steps to ensure that all pets, regardless of breed, receive fair and compassionate treatment. As a result of this negative experience, I will be seeking alternative veterinary care for my beloved Chow Chow. I hope that my feedback helps both the establishment and potential clients to understand the issues I encountered. I strongly believe that all animals deserve to be treated with respect and receive the care they need, irrespective of their breed. Please note that this review is based solely on my personal experience, and others may have had different encounters with the Melrose-La Brea Animal Hospital.
Called in asking about getting vaccines I need for traveling with a pet internationally. Never brought my dog here but the vet got on the phone and gave me super helpful information. So impressed! Love how they went above and beyond to help. Need to make this my regular vet from now on!! Thank you!
Dr. Jordan and his staff are awesome! I am a first time pet parent and was overly nervous just like my kitten and had a ton of questions. Dr. Jordan was thorough with his check up, in addition to answering every question I had plus more. I couldn’t be more thankful and excited that I found a veterinarian that’s caring and knowledgeable! If you’re unsure of where to take your baby, don’t hesitate to take them here. They are in good hands. Thank you again Dr. Jordan for a great experience for me and my kitten. We really appreciate it!
Dr. Jordan and his staff were gentle, kind, informative and professional. They truly had my dog’s best interest in mind and provided thorough explanation as to what treatments were recommended and why. So happy I happened upon this vet’s office and will definitely make this a go-to for my dog.
I am new to LA and found Melrose La Brea hospital for my 2 cats. I had a wonderful experience and will absolutely be returning. Dr Jordan, his clinic and the staff are all fantastic. I am not one to typically respond to comments, however, I feel inclined to share that the review left by 'M Guarnieri' was not only foul and ignorant, but also HIGHLY inaccurate. This facility is well-kept and very clean; with a comfortable, homey-feel to it. Dr. Jordan is absolutely wonderful. Truly. He is exceptionally kind, friendly, and most importantly, knowledgeable and very gentle and patient with my timid cat Leo. I learned he has owned this clinic for 40 years. His vast experience working with animals makes him credible and reliable. The two ladies whom I interacted with to schedule my appointment and check in/out were both extremely friendly. I would certainly not refer to either of them as 'stupid'. Their names are Tanya and Helen. Also, parking was easy. Several spots in the back! I would highly recommend bringing your pets to Dr. Jordan. They will be in safe hands.
Dr Jordan is so kind, knowledgeable and cool. The facility is lovely and the staff of ladies were also very welcoming. I’m so happy I discovered him I’m my neighborhood.
