If I could give a zero, I would. I am embarrassed and disgusted! I have called this my family hospital for the last 45 years. These people have become ignorant, cruel, and disgusting and should be ashamed of themselves on every level! I brought my boyfriend in this morning about 4 hours ago. He has been in severe pain and anguish for a couple days, and hoped it would go away in its own. We got to the hospital at 4am and the front desk and triage nurse were great. They brought us back to a bed and we never heard from anyone again. I went out about 530 to get a nurse because he was howling in pain and she said they were busy. This was an ER with at least 30 people behind the counter. There were patients but not to the extent they can justify neglect of obvious and verified, agonizing, painful symptoms. I went back out at 715am and the same lady told me they were busy and couldn’t get to him. I questioned why they weren’t able to even pop in when hearing him screaming in pain and not even offering a blanket or a water!!!! I am so deeply offended by this lack of interest, nevermind care. How dare these “medical professionals” or so they would call themselves go through their shift after swearing and committing to their oath to be a nurse or doctor, and then treat a fellow person with such disdain and disregard. I finally had a doctor from Ultrasound come in and was able to give us some hope with a possible diagnosis. A few minutes ago, a nurse from the day shift showed up in the room and after having to listen to my story, apologized and stated the orders were just put in a few minutes before she showed up at the door. So they never did anything on purpose ? This hospital used to mean something. Something to respect and promote in the best possible way. I even used to volunteer here as a teenager. every medical procedure I or any of my family members ever had have been here at MelWak. I am crushed we were treated this way. I brought him here to make sure he did not experience trauma like this due to his anxiety condition and PTSD from another hospital doing something similar in his past. I will be forwarding this to my friends on the local media, radio and TV in hopes that someone will stand up and say ENOUGH!
Don't ask questions. Don't be an advocate for yourself or your family. Don't press the call button since they will ignore it anyway. Don't think that because all the nurses are just sitting at the nurse's station fixing their nails, chatting about their personal lives, staring into space, that they are not busy. Don't remind them of the hours on end you've been waiting since it's a privilege for you to be there, and 9 hours at the ER is nothing when others have waited 17. How dare you complain! Don't approach the nurse station even though you've pressed the call button twice and both times they were ignored, so you have no choice but to go to the nurse station. You will get kicked out. Be meek, docile, and take their abuse because you need their help. Never again. They may be the closest E.R. from my house, but I will never go there or take my family there again for any emergency. Now I know...
WORST ER ever. I went to this stupid ER for my severe throat pain, cough, congestion, chest pain, and other symptoms severe. All they did was to get me waiting in the stupid waiting room without any help. Waited for hours on chair, and they could not even arrange a bed and a doctor to see me. They kept telling they only have one doctor, what the hell! Massachusetts hospital with only one doctor in the ER, what a shame on them. Hours later they could shift to a ER bed and they did not even have pillow to give to the patient in need. Waited on that horrible bed for several hours without a Single doctor showing up. The nurse came and asked for symptoms, when a patient is already so sick unable to speak what they expect to tell the whole story a hundred times. Cant they have any knowledge how to treat a patient who is unable to talk because of so much pain. The doctor finally showed uo afters hours and hours of waiting, but let me tell the fact, he did not even care! The worst doctor I have ever seen in my entire life. Even a remote village doctor could have treated well than this doctor in the ER! Apparently the only single doctor they had in the ER to treat so many patients. I wonder how the other patients were treated by this Doctor. He did not seem to have any knowledge! He was only worried to go away without giving a proper treatment. All he gave was a tynelol. I could have taken that from any drug store. Dont need a doctor for that. The worst ER and the worst doctor ever. They should have well educated and knowledgeable doctors out there who can help treat patients nicely. This is the first time in my life writing a bad review for anyone! But I could not stop myself for this horrible experience. People really need urgent emergency care, but not with such stupid people out there in ER. Have some good services ER. Patients come for treatment and not just waiting for long hours to go back home with the same symptoms and even worse. No thanks at all. Shame on this ER service. Would never recommend anyone to go to this place in emergency. Because it was not an emergency department but a very very very slow and delayed department with no help.
I came into the ER to have my knee assessed after an injury in a basketball game the night prior, and I had a very pleasant and smooth experience. The staff was kind and I never had to wait longer than about 30 minutes between being seen. I spent about 3 hours there in total arrived mid day on a weekday having x rays done, and was referred to an orthopedics office for follow up. Definitely a positive experience!
My experience going to the ED here was honestly wonderful. All ED’s as of late have 5 hour plus waits due to a significant increase in illness with the flu and RSV alone. I waited for a little over 5.5 hours which in an ideal world I wish could have been much quicker — and it wasn’t bad at all. I became increasingly panicked after the first few hours as the waiting room got notably loud, and the receptionist and nurse were incredibly sympathetic, and kind enough to find a separate spot for me to wait that was quieter. I went from being very anxious and on edge, to almost falling asleep. Everybody here was so kind and good to me, and I’m incredibly grateful. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the bathrooms need to be cleaner. Even with that— I’d definitely return here and recommend it.
There are about five chairs in the main entrance lobby; that’s the entire hospital’s waiting room for family of patients. The cafeteria is equally, supremely, inadequate offerings, hours, seating. The medical professionals have all sounded either flat failed “bedside manner” in med/nursing school or came across as inexperienced/noticeably anxious. Neither is comforting as you wait through a six hour surgery, PLUS recovery. This hasn’t been a good experience. Ended up waiting in our car, in the parking lot. Glad I’m petite and that the weather isn’t at either extreme. In the future, if given the option of where to go, we will definitely NOT choose this one. Not recommended at all.
It's terrible in terms of time you have to spend there to see the doctor. Why they don't hire more doctors?
I am 5 weeks pregnant. I came here for some heavy bleeding and cramps and really nervous I could be losing my baby. They took my blood work and then 3 hours later told me they couldn't give me the results because their systems were down and I might as well go home . I asked if they would call me when the test results are in and they said probably not you'll have to call back . Really???? I did have an ultrasound done where I was told by the doctor that it's too soon to be able to tell, that's it have a good day . I spent 4 hours here and left knowing nothing.
I was hung up on when I called asking for help with chest pain and asking for wait time in their ER
First, we went there on a Monday and the hospital said a Monday is a very bad time to go to the ER! Very busy! So take the rest of this with a grain of salt. It took a very long time to get seen. Several hours. If they prioritize people by their problems, I can understand that somewhat. If in general they process people in the order in which they come in, it was extremely slow. It took another four to six hours to get results. We got there at 11:30 a.m. and as of 10:30 p.m. my mother didn't have a bed so she told us "you guys might as well go home." They said she would probably sleep in a stretcher. She probably would have been more comfortable just sleeping in the chair she had been in for nearly twelve hours. When we saw her the next morning, she said that they had eventually moved her into a free bed. I can't say what it would be like on other days of the week, but if possible, at the very least, don't go there on Mondays!
