Description

The Y is your home. Memorial Park Recreation Center YMCA has been happily supporting and contributing to this community for the past 2 years.

This center focuses on providing an atmosphere that is conducive to all. We want to help you attain your wellness goals, as well as strengthen your social circle with other like-minded Y members.

Mission

A mission of service.
For over 130 years, the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has been working to put Christian principles into practice through programs. We're not a gym, or a health club, or a day care center, but rather a deeply rooted, not-profit community service organization with a long history of success in working for the greater good.

A sense of belonging.
Everyone needs a place to belong. A haven where judgement is left at the door. At the Y, openness and acceptance abound in an atmosphere of friendship and belonging. It's where teamwork is valued, relationships are nurtured and the uniqueness of the individual is celebrated.

A feeling of trust.
Where can you go? Whom can you trust? How can you be sure? For millions of people all around the globe, the answer is the Y. A safe place where parents can feel secure their children will be watched over. A unique environment where trust, love and compassion flourish.

A celebration of diversity.
At the Y, everyone is welcome. Regardless of where you were born, what you believe in, or how high or low you are on the economic scale. It is a place where people are just that—people. A celebration of the individuality that makes us who we are.

If I could give 0 stars I would! We threw a birthday party And paid 325 dollars to swim and have a room for 2 hours. One person told us we could swim all day after the party ended which makes sense right since you’d pay 8.50 general admissions to swim all day per child and save half that. We were wrong so they made us get out of the pool fine whatever. We asked to clarify and the staff lied and said they spoke with a manager that not even 5 minutes later was not there to speak with. Not only that but the website says you get a party host and pool activities. We weren’t even so much as greeted when we walked through the door. Party room was set up with deflating balloons that somebody wrote the number 5 on. So tacky and very poor customer service. I would not reckoned throwing a party here at all. They ripped us off. 325 when we could have spent 170 to swim all day. Thanks for all the disclosure “Boogie”
The pool is great especially for toddlers. The staff here is wonderful, the best of all the locations in the Springs in my opinion. The only reason I am only giving 3 stars is because everytime I go the showers are sooooo cold even when you turn the nobs up to as high as it can go. I have mentioned it to the lifeguards several times and they have mentioned it to management but nothing seems to get done about it. It has gotten to the point where I go to other locations on occasion because I can get a warm shower after I swim. Another thing that would be awesome is if the could install a bathing suit dryer.
Well I wouldn't be complaining if we didn't spend 25.00 for three of us to swim. While in the pool there was a constant buzzing when you put your head under water. Then there was all kinds of sand at the bottom of the pool. As we where walking out a lady brought her dog in and he got right up by the hot tub. Not very clean. If I am paying that much to swim they should be able to keep it clean. It wasn't busy at all and plenty of people there to maintain it.
The worst experience for my grandsons 5th birthday. We were told we would have an attendant for the party room and games in the pool....nobody even greeted us let alone interacted with us. Then we were told when we booked the party we would have unlimited swimming after the party room was done. We got asked to leave after 1 hour of swimming. All of this at a cost of $300. When we called to talk to someone they tried to say "oh, that is not at memorial pool. We have the attendant and games at our other pool. Your confused. They are full of it!!! Never going there.. telling all my friends!!!!
I went and signed my kids up for fall sports and they were so helpful. We are still kinda new to the state so we will take all the help we can get. They are super polite and completely understandable. I highly recommend u sign your kids up for one of the programs. Heck sign yourself up too.
horrible management. no signs saying you cant use house floaties or pool noodles. walked by multiple staff members and was told nothing. then when we finally touched water is when they decided on two separate occasions to tell us we cant use our own kid floaties, use our own pool noodle. it would have been nice to know this BEFORE we touched water and when we spoke to the staff members. ridiculous honestly. never coming back to a place that wont tell you the proper rules. ‍
My family and my self love to go to the YMCA at Memorial Park, even that the property is a bit older, the kids and grand kids love swimming here they have so much fun. Just as a hint the water and the locker rooms could sometimes be a little bit warmer. Other then that, the staff is friendly greeting the visitors with a smile.
Would give zero stars. No where does it say that you can't have inflatables BEFORE you pay an arm and a leg to swim. Also when I ask for my money back because we decide to take our business somewhere else I am told that rules are rules and that we can't have a refund. We never even touched the water and yet we gave you guys almost 20 dollars. They also did not have an acceptable life jacket for our infant so we brought our own flotation device for him. Poor customer service and an unapologetic staff that both does not care about their customers, but also refuses to make anything right. 0/10. With my 20 dollars please buy a life jacket that would fit a child under 30 pounds.
Okay facility - outdated and had some obvious fixes that needed to be done. We of course got there about 10 mins before their "10 min break" and my three year old had a hard time with the concept. Also the child to adult ratio was way off and the lifeguards spend a majority of time yelling at kids and blowing their whistles because there are no parents around. My kid had tons of fun - but I don't think we'll be back anytime soon.
The executive director of the downtown region advised me that there are approximately 20,000 members. Quick math shows, conservatively, with an average monthly membership fee at~$50 due to reduced rates and subsidized fees the Y brings in $1,000,000. I understand that they are nonprofit so let's see a breakdown of where the money is going! The equipment is old and the facilities are dilapidated. The culture of the Y in the healthy living center is a near mimic to planet fitness. Heaven forbid you are a larger young Male who knows what your doing in the gym. You became the Y's public enemy #1. No wonder lifetime, anytime, 24 hour, vassa, etc... can steal your members. Too bad the Y has a strangle hold on the downtown area of the springs.
