Description

Memorial Stadium is a football stadium located in Lawrence, Kansas, on the campus of the University of Kansas. The stadium is dedicated as a memorial to Kansas students who died in World War I. Adjacent to the stadium, further up the hill is a Korean War memorial honoring Kansas students who served. The stadium is the home stadium of the Kansas Jayhawks football team. The stadium was renovated in August 2017 with new seats, a new touchdown club behind the north end zone, and the outside walls with banners. The rim of the northern bowl also had a series of 5 flagpoles installed on both sides of the scoreboard, with one side set to feature American flags, and one side set to feature the state flag of Kansas.Construction and renovationMemorial Stadium was built in 1920 funded by students, faculty, and fans. Originally the stadium had only east and west bleachers, which were expanded southward in 1925. The north bowl seating section was added in 1927 to give the stadium its horseshoe shape which it retains today. The west bleachers were expanded significantly upwards in 1963, with similar additions to the east side in 1965. A major renovation in 1978 repaired concrete and upgraded home and visiting team facilities.Permanent lights were installed in 1997 and the current infrastructure is the result of a 1998 renovation. The press box and scholarship suites saw significant improvement and expansion in 1999, and the MegaVision video board was installed in the same year. The field has been artificial turf since 1970. In the summer of 2009 the old AstroPlay surface was replaced with FieldTurf.

It is outside so you're out in the weather. Water is $5. It's not very handicap accessible. If you go during graduation be prepared for any weather.
So fun to watch college games in person. This stadium is easy to find and easy to get around. It was a bright sunny day, the weather couldn’t have been better. Just a really great time.
The atmosphere is electric. The stadium itself has had some renovations but still has a nostalgic feel.
Love this old historic stadium. Not a bad seat in the house. Easy to get around in. Parking is easy, restrooms are fine, my only complaint is that it’s a bit small for a major university. The Hawks need to get their football team rolling and get some updates to this place. With all that said, I love this stadium and look forward to seeing more and more KU wins.
It was a very cool place far as atmosphere. Here's why only 4 stars. Parking, hills, no shade, "chiggers" infesting the seating area. Otherwise great.
Attendants, concession workers, officers are always courteous! Stadium is located centrally and easy to get into and out of.
Great atmosphere and wonderful game experience. Must go see this stadium is you are in Lawrence.
I really enjoyed my visit here, very cool older stadium. Fantastic setting for a college football game. Felt like a game up in the Northeast being surrounded by beautiful hills and old homes and buildings. With the exception of one grouchy lady and a guy on a power trip at a field level entrance everyone working here was very friendly to us as obviously being fans of the visiting team. The stadium was super clean including the restrooms. I will come to more games here in the future. Great stadium!
Awesome game! Crowd was Galvanized KU 5-0, Wow!!! Li Sis Trudy "Jayhawk Strong" got Me to come to Lawrence for this game and It was All That and a bag of Chips Took Me bk 40+yrs to My College Hay Days...... What a Fun Filled Fantastic Day! Thank U Sis, KU Football for winning and KU fans for a non- incident game.... Rock Chalk KU!!!!!
Excellent food and excellent customer service. Very nice patio to eat outside. The 4 star rate is only due to limited sitting space. But considering we were there over the busy graduation weekend, we were actyally seated within 30 min. Very pleasant.
