MHA of Aiken County provides supports to improve services to those affected by mental illness and to remove the stigma related to these conditions. We support the community through outreach and education and are a resource to homeless families.
Mental Health America of Aiken County is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) agency, therefore all donations and memberships are tax deductible.
Our work in Aiken County is accomplished largely through partnerships and collaborations with many organizations on a state and local level. We are a partnering and funded agency of United Way of Aiken County and rely heavily on grant funding, corporate and private donations.

Aiken's Cookin' with Celebrity Chefs ~ MHAAC's annual "fun"draising event, which offers the public an opportunity to help strengthen our community while sampling some of the best kept secret recipes from Aiken. The event takes place annually on the 2nd Friday in June. The event hosted by MHAAC through the generosity of the owners at the globally recognized, award winning location, The Willcox Inn, right in the heart of Aiken.
Homelessness Preventive Services ~ a transitional apartment availability via Aiken Housing Authority (application process by referral through MHAAC @ AHA) and Nurture Home ~ a Transitional shelter for up to 5 single women (ages 18 years or older) and their children. Generally, there is always a waiting list, but please be advised that there are prerequisites and an application process involved (& usually) by referral only, through partnering agencies. This is a rigorous program, which encourages women to embrace self-sufficient behaviors; so the interview process assists us in determining if candidates are legitimately prepared to adapt to positive changes in their lives. Call MHAAC for additional information. Sponsors, volunteers and donations are needed on an ongoing basis.
Operation Santa ~ an annual Christmas Celebration that provides a Chrismas dinner, sponsored gift bag and entertainment for local adults in our community who have a diagnosed mental illness. Registration required through partnering agencies and community care facilities. Sponsors, volunteers, and donations are needed September through December. Welcome Baby ~ a program providing support to new mothers and families with educational information in addition to area referral services. Critical information is provided regarding post-partum depression; a treatable medical condition, as well as, smoking cessation, prevention of SIDS & Shaken Baby Syndrom. Please call our agency for referral services. Sponsors and donations are needed on an ongoing basis. Please call MHAAC if your organization is interested in hosting a Baby Shower or Diaper Drive.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Resolve) ~ Suicide Prevention Training program
MHAAC is part of the suicide prevention network in South Carolina and hosts suicide prevention trainings. Please contact MHAAC if you are interested in obtaining training for your organization.
More Than Sad ~ is a program of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention that provides education to teachers and counselors about factors that put youth at risk for suicide.
I.C. HOPE® “Don’t Duck Mental Health"® program
A public awareness and education campaign for youth that dispels the negative perceptions and images associated with mental illness and mental health issues.
