I was hesitant to go to this clinic because of the bad reviews, but I called beforehand and they said there were only 2 patients in the waiting room on a Sunday afternoon so I did. I had nothing short of a stellar experience. The wait was short, despite more people arriving the same time we did, the front desk staff was kind and attentive, but most important of all, the PA, Jesse Hart, was fantastic. He was thorough, examined my child beyond just our reason for being there, and was very kind and patient with my son, who was scared and a bit hysterical. This was an outstanding experience and I will not hesitate to go there again when the need arises.
I was diagnosed with the flu on Friday at a different urgent care in another town. By Monday my throat was so much worse I wanted to double check and make sure I didn’t have strep even though a strep test the Friday before was negative. I was the very last patient that night and I waited for at least 45 mins. By the time they got to me, the male nurse was obviously in a hurry. He had me get on the scale and it didn’t look like he even looked at the number before telling me to follow him. I had a hat on and a mask since I had been diagnosed with flu prior to this visit. I told him I hadn’t had a fever since Friday and at that point he pulled my hat up and took my temperature with the temporal thermometer and said, “nope, you have one now” and showed me it said 100.0. I was very confused since I had just taken my temp prior to this visit before I left my house and it said 98.3. He took the swab out for a strep test and I opened my mouth and it barely even touched my throat. The PA came in and said the test was negative, and said my throat looked fine. My throat was on fire so there had to be at least some redness, PLUS, I had examined my throat at my house and saw white pockets. She prescribed me a steroid and gave me some throat lozenges and sent me on my way. When I got home I took my temp again, no fever! He had also put my weight on the paper as 5 lbs over what the scale had read. But he didn’t look at it well enough! I ended up going to a different urgent care after being at work all day Wednesday and they tested me for strep again. It was positive. I won’t be returning to this clinic anymore. Even though they are open late, it’s not worth it!
I went here on a Saturday afternoon. I got in and out, the staff was super friendly as was the PA. She listened to me, recognized I knew my history, and helped me get a medicine to fix an issue I struggle with about once a year. I see these posts about wait time and to those I say, go to your regular doc with an appointment if you want less wait. They have no control over your wait when they are simply doing their job. If they rush someone else that needs their attention to get to you quicker, they could get sued for not spending enough time with another patient. It's after hours care, even if I'd waited a couple of hours, that's on me for needing a weekend clinic. I thought they were great!
I went into the office Sep 19, 2018, with a very bad cold, I felt awful, I had a headache, coughing, and I had the cold sweats. The lady behind the checkin counter was so sweet she kept saying I'm sorry it's taking so long, she went in the back and got me some water, it was just what I needed. She said "I hope you start feeling better" I sat down for less than 5 minutes and the nurse called me back the 2 nurses in the back we're very nice and informative. By the time I left I felt much much better and I hadn't taken any medicine it was just them, the staff. I just wanted to thank them from the bottom of my heart.
My wife and I have been going to this mercy clinic for years now, we do not even live in Oklahoma and we still drive all the way down to this location for our medical needs. Every time we go the staff is incredibly friendly and extremely helpful. There is never any wait. And our doctor is extremely knowledgeable about our conditions and goes above and beyond Every Single Time. He and his assistant are the best medical duo I have ever seen. I cannot recommend this location enough.
Showed up tonight at 9:20 after driving almost an hour to get to this clinic before they closed at 10:00 for a high school wrestler with a laceration to his knee that needs a couple of stitches. Literally 3 cars in the entire parking lot but the doors were locked. Met two staff in scrubs who were just inside leaving as I called to see why the doors where locked when it wasn’t 10:00. I was told they had too many patients today so I explained that I literally drive almost an hour to avoid going to the ER so that I could have a convenient care deductible rather than an ER deductible. It’s like a $900 difference for my BCBS of Oklahoma for a deep 1/2” hash from wrestling. So although I drove past several clinics and several other ERs to go to Mercy, because it’s our hospital and our pediatrician is there, they still said go to the Mercy ER. They didn’t answer the phone the rest of the evening. I am very disappointed in this clinic.
We have gone to the Edmond Mercy after hours care location many, many times and usually found the service to be efficient and helpful. But we HAVE noticed that in the last year especially the whole place has declined as far as customer service goes. The bedside manner of the staff is stand offish at best, obtuse at worst and has evolved right before our eyes. It literally feels like their looking at you like "why are you bothering us?" and the later in the evening it is , It's VERY noticeable. Anything beyond a poke, prod, and prescription writing is a most grueling experience. They literally act like we've put them out that they have to do something strenuous. Last night my wife went in with a cut that she thought had been infected and she wanted an opinion on it. She said she felt like they just glanced at it an ran her out the door as everyone was obviously packing up to leave with 30 minutes to go before official closing. And then tonight... the last straw. I just got off the phone with these folks at 815pm. I advised my son fell and cut his scalp and might need a stitch or two. The lady I spoke with made a big deal out of the fact it would take us 15 minutes at most to get there and tried to steer us to another location that had the same hours and with traffic would NOT have been any significant improvement. Then she reminded me EMPHATICALLY that they closed at 10 pm sharp. I mean you could hear it in her voice, it was humiliating and ridiculously petulant. A positive attitude and a "come on in, we'll fix you up as soon as we can" would go a long way in creating a friendly environment in which new and existing PATIENTS/CUSTOMERS would feel comfortable and welcome. I mean God forbid you need medical care at an AFTER HOURS medical center and "after hours" but to have to run the gauntlet of mediocrity and indolence to get it is the salt in the wound so to speak. Our expereince was totally frustrating and most likely our last visit to this place unless this downhill slide is somehow stymied. Read the other reviews, and look at the timeline. Great reviews approximately a year ago and since then with the exception of one, the rest are bottom level. Until I looked this up I hadn't even noticed these reviews. So now I add another one. Staff this place with people with good attitudes, get 'em off their cell phones and fixated on the patients Most IRONICALLY there is a sign in each exam room about not being on the cell phone when your meeting with the staff , cut the personal chit chat amongst themselves and stay focused on the customer. Fix this place or shut it down
I just had the most offensive visit at the after hours care at Mercy. I took my 4 year old son there this evening because he was diagnosed with strep on Monday and his symptoms haven't subsided in the slightest. Some of the issues include high fever, sore mouth, lack of appetite and fatigue. Along with that he also has had a greenish/brown tongue. Indeed I know that the first few things are all symptoms of strep throat and I also know not to expect him to be 100% after only 3 doses of a ten day antibiotic. However, my main concern was is lack of nutrition. Dr. Jose Medina made it a point to make me feel like an idiot. I assume he doesn't have children otherwise he'd know that hearing your child say that he is hungry for 3 days but can't eat because his mouth hurts is very hard to hear as a parent. He was extremely condescending. He had no compassion for the fact that I am a worried mother and he repeated said "hey if you want a prescription I will prescribe him a mouthwash". Unfortunately the tone is impossible to describe in writing. He also was very short with me and he seemed even annoyed that I was asking advice about what I could give him for some added nutrition. First off, I am SO sorry that I wasted your time! Secondly, I didn't come all the way there to get a prescription from you unless it was needed. I came there for your professional opinion about my sick child. Surely you didn't go to med school simply to write a prescription. As regular patient of Dr. Kelly Stephens who by the way is EXCELLENT it's disturbing that someone Dr. Medina is even associated with this clinic. We will stick to Access Medical from now on.
Don't go here. I'm a Mercy patient and all of my doctors are through Mercy, so I assumed that this place would be as professional. It wasn't. There was no one at the front desk to register me, then the other desk told me to go back to the other, then they finally checked me in without every looking at my face or ever smiling. Total deadpan. It took much too long to do it considering that none of the information had to be updated, including insurance. I then was taken back to see a doctor, who ordered an xray. I'm an older disabled woman in a wheelchair and had fallen. The xray department actually said I weighed 12 pounds too much to get it done there because their table was old and it could fall. Seriously. I eventually just walked out without getting the checkup that I needed. Extremely unprofessional and low rate service.
Walked in last night at 8:50pm and was out before 10! The RN & Cary, the PA, were both GREAT! They provided caring and attentive service and were speedy when it came to getting the necessary supplies and prepping for stitches! Getting the stitches weren't fun but she talked me through everything so I knew what was going on the whole time and chatted to keep me distracted. I would recommend this place for walk-in care!
