Meriden Fire Local 1148 Presents- The Annual Meriden Back-to-School Expo: A charitable, community-wide event that provides under-privileged children from grades K-8 with the necessary school supplies to help them succeed and grow as students.

Description

The annual Meriden Back-to-School Expo is a non-profit organization hosted by Meriden Firefighters Local 1148 in Meriden, Connecticut. Meriden Firefighters raise money year-round to buy school supplies and backpacks for the underprivileged children of Meriden in grades Pre-K through 8th.
The Back-to-School Expo’s goal is to support, inform and supply underprivileged families of Meriden with the necessities for educational growth and personal empowerment. The Back-to-School Expo accomplishes this through individual advisement of free services within the community and the earning a free backpack with school supplies. The Expo is held annually at City Park in Meriden on the third week in August. The event is a proud, community-wide collaboration that encourages excitement about the upcoming new school year. It is supported by local non-profits and radio stations, city officials, volunteers, and has provided over 7,000 backpacks with school supplies for citizens of Meriden.The Back-to-School Expo’s goal is to support, inform and supply those underprivileged families of Meriden with the necessities for educational growth and personal empowerment.
