Great little campground within steps to the cutest little town straight out of a hallmark movie. Sites are a bit small but they are directly on the Rideau canal which makes up for the size. Caught lots of small fish and we were able to launch our kayak right from our camp site! The campground managers are kind, helpful, welcoming and accommodating. There is a regular group of campers at this campground who are the friendliest and treat everyone like family. Can't wait for our next stay!!
As soon as we arrived the person next to us stood just a couple of feet away from my husband and I while we were setting up. For 3 days they would lurk around their trailer to see what we were doing, would have friends over that spilled over to our lot and their guests would walk through our site. On the day we left, it was 7:00 am and pouring rain out and he still came out with his coffee in hand and stood right next to us while we packed up. If you stay here, you are paying for a communal space.
A great place to camp amongst the wildlife, but you can also enjoy the picturesque little town. A very friendly site with clean facilities.Service: 5/5
A campground that also services Boaters. Most boaters are looking for services and have trouble finding them. Things like showers, ice and drinking water. This place can service all of those needs. If you tie up at the end of the blue line at the upper lock for a small fee they’ll allow you to shower. Sell you ice, it’s so close it won’t melt while you walk home with it and it’s cheeper than any others that I saw in town. They will run a hose out to their property line to connect to yours to fill your boat. Fantastic service, really nice people.
i stayed there for 3 nights.great location beside the canal and you can walk into town.they just put in a kayak launcher and it works great. Ignore those other reviews, the managers were very easy going and polite.I would stay there againLocation: 5/5
We had a lovely time while camping. Nothing beats the view when you look out over the Rideau lock system. The managers are a lovely couple with a cute dog. We were the only tent between a bunch of trailers but it was very quite except for our neighbour but the managers dealt with our complaint. The washroom is very clean and has a hot showers. Firewood is free cut ends of pine 2x4 and plentiful. We recommend it.
Very nice Campground too bad the managers weren't nice they shouldn't be there because they treat everybody that isn't rich like them like they don't matter and what they say goes if you don't have a 5th wheel camper or a big rv you don't exist to them they will do everything they can do to make your visit miserable and pick you out of a crowd to put you down and to get you to leave and if that doesn't work then they come down to the campsite and start drama with you I will never go back until they get booted out
Nicest little campground around right on the Rideau canal. Can’t forget the wonderful hosts Caroline & Tom that are always there to make your stay most enjoyable.
The camp hosts are exceptionally hospitable. I do not know why this campground doesn’t receive more and better reviews. It is vey clean, with bins for garbage and recyclables. Although a narrow campground on the banks of an historic locks system, the road leads to a turnaround that is quite roomy to maneuver. The sites lack sewer because it is so close to the locks, but a sewer dump station is situated right outside the gates for easy access to the villages sewer system. All folks we met were very friendly and in the age group of right before retiring or retired. Only a few seasonal set ups. Very quiet in the evenings. We stayed for three nights, with very convenient access to this picture postcard perfect village of shops, art galleries, glass blowing facilities, and trendy restaurants. Ice cream can be expensive for a cone GRIN in the village. I highly recommend the Village Bean as the local coffee shop. If you go early in the morning, say 5:30am or 6:00am and I am a sunrise kind of person, then you will meet and be able to listen to the senior village residents talk about the church event from the previous evening or the local Legion’s dinner from last night. The qwerky residents were brought up and lived here long before it became expensive and trendy and come for their morning breakfast and coffees.
Great camp ground in the middle of a small downtown. Walking distance to restaurants and shops, all sites right along the river. Very clean and well kept. A little more privacy from site to site would have been better and some space between the more "permanent" RV campers and occasional tenters would have also been better since there was a lot of noise from the others.
