The Mesa County Historical Society is a non-profit organization created in 1975 to provide a forum for individuals and groups interested in the preservation and protection of history especially in Mesa County and surrounding communities.
The Mesa County Historical Society is a non-profit organization created in 1975 to provide a forum for individuals and groups interested in the preservation and protection of history especially in Mesa County and surrounding communities.
The Society seeks to stimulate interest by bringing to life the richness, excitement, relevance and importance of life in Mesa County’s past.
The operation of the Society is entrusted to a board of directors who plan the general membership meetings and conducts the Society’s business activities.
Currently the Society has collected over 3,000 oral history tapes along with a variety of historical archives that are housed at the Loyd Files Research Library in the Museum of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.
