Fascinating museum devoted to the art and craft of metal working. There are working crafts people who are extremely knowledgeable and glad to talk about their work. It's not very large, but extremely worthwhile to visitVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
I was looking for a Mississippi River overlook and discovered this gem. Celebrating metal arts of various types, the museum also includes workshops explaining blacksmith and foundry techniques. An added bonus is the historic buildings that make up their campus. So happy I found it!
Kind of a hidden treasure in town. Small museum inside mixed with a nice area outside that is right by the river. Interesting history behind a lot of the early blacksmiths that ties in with the Civil Rights history in Memphis and other areas. Worth a visit for locals and visitors.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Great place. The staff were wonderful and were enthusiastic about sharing their work. Wonderful gift shop too!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$11–15
Small intimate museum located in two old, restored 2 story buildings/homes plus a small outdoor sculpture garden and gazebo. There is also a detached building where craftsmen work, they were very friendly and engaging, willing to answer questions. Whole visit took 1 hour even with us taking our time perusing the gift shop, which was a bit pricey with more higher end, gallery like items. Worth checking out once!
Very nice museum complex. In addition to seeing the various exhibits/collections, we were able to see an aluminum pour in the foundry. I would highly recommend visiting.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
What a wonderful place! You may not think of metal as art, but here, it is. Far beyond craftsmanship. We drove 5 hours to get here and it was so worth it.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entry$6–10
We wanted to take my 8 yo to a museum and the metal museum was on the way ojt of Memphis so we gave it a try. We had such a great time. There were several exhibits and you could walk through the artist metal working shop. It would be a beautiful venue for a wedding!!
What an incredible jewel of this city. An amazing place to see awesome art and sculptures and learn what people are doing with metal. There is a casting room, a blacksmith shop, and several buildings with exhibits. Savannah, James, and Jake did a great job job sharing about the casting room and blacksmith shops and were super engaging. I was able to watch Savannah and Jake poor aluminum for a small dish and prepare the mold and everything. Very cool. I can’t wait to go back.
Amazing museum. Spent hours looking at the art from large sculptures to tiny jewelry, from ancient knives and locks to modern benches and fences. Enjoyed the exhibits of a working foundry and smithy. My boyfriend is excited to sign up for classes there in the new year.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
